Hey all

Well we are supposed to leave this weekend for Hatteras but with the power outage our camp ground is closed.

I am looking for some last minute ideas. Wife would prefer the beach. I just want to get away for a week

Any ideas would be great thanks.

We had a great stay at Kerr last weekend. All waterfront sites were booked, but we checked Thursday night, and found one open...we stayed at bullocksville....there were a couple of other waterfront sites open while we were there. what folks do now is reserve a bunch of sites thru the season, and cancel the weekends they can't go. Don't give up on a location just because it was booked up....keep checking back and see if any have become available.

Huntington Beach State Park.SC
Bandits Roost Kerr Scott area. NC
Warrior Creek Kerr Scott area. NC
Hungry Mother State Park. VA
River Camp USA. NC
The New River Campground. VA location.
Jordan Lake State Park. NC

All have water to play in. Most also have local mountain biking or trails right in the same location.

Hunting Island . Edisto Island . Both make sure you are close to the water ocean breezes to keep bugs at bay.

Tent camping, see below.

-Freeman Park at Carolina Beach
-Core Banks
-Carolina Beach State Park
-Kure Beach
-can't remember if Topsail/Surf City has tent camping or not.

RV, you have more options for beaches than I can attempt to list.

We dig Myrtle Beach State Park. Affordable, family friendly, walking distance from the water, and a short drive from the melee of Myrtle Beach. It's quiet enough that you don't know you're at the Redneck Rivera, but close enough that you can still hit the outlets or the pirate show if you want to. You always see folks from all over there. Canada, Europe, etc. For some reason, MB is a big destination spot. If you're heading west, Grayson Highlands or Davidson River would be nice right now.

^^^ We do MBSP every year for a family reunion. Nice place. Under flight path, but quietens down later in the evening.

Davidson River is great. Have to get there early in week or Thursday at the latest. Not the beach but great camping.

Jekyll island was where we just were and saw they had a nice large campground. Walking distance to the beach, good fishing, really cool driftwood beach and lots of biking and walking trails.

Hell no on Jekyll . Ticks are a huge issue on this island . We where in a hotel and had to.pull them off nightly.

That was December

State Park?? Or one of the big three?
Pirate Land?
Lakewood?
Oceanlakes?

On another note the only place I haven't been is Apache...

The others more time than I can remember. From my family history I was probably conceived in one of those places.:p
