how was Daytona???
Pics??

sorry for the lack of updates....had a rough time...here we go...see, what had happened was.........we were done with the Jeep, everything was going right on schedule to be done and tested and on our way to the Jeep Beach until we had an unforeseen set back (thats what I'm calling it, leave me alone). Went off of some bad information when choosing the proper fuel line to go to the engine...when we went to start up too much fuel pumped into the 8th cylinder and upon compression snapped a piston rod, as of right now we are only out a rod and piston, the block is ok. Shit happens mistakes were made and now we are fixing it...since then he's been gettin the fenders and sliders done...now we have all the parts for the engine, so should be fixing it soon

some pix outta the shop, had to turn her around this week

How does the wrong fuel line put too much fuel in a fuel injected motor? I was under the impression that fuel was determined by the injectors and how long they pulsed.

we put it in the wrong line all together...not wrong fuel line...wrong line :shaking: ....it was an evap line right next to the fuel line...epic failure, one of those things you never do again

I'll have to ask my mechanic friend to explain it where I can understand it. BC I'm clueless! LOL! Looks good though.

so you plugged the FUEL line into the EVAP LINE vac reference? yeah..haven't don't it myself, but i know a guy that plugged a coolant line into a vac reference....and yeah...not good things.

Yes it was a incredibly stupid thing to do, esp working late and being tired. The evap and fuel line are right beside each other all the way to the gas tank and you can't see the lines any more once they get on top of the transmission. The evap line goes directly into the throttle body so whenever the key turned on the fuel pump sent 65psi of fuel straight into the throttle body. By the time I realized what happened it was too late. No real damage done other than the rod so it isn't nearly as bad as it could have been, about $160 bucks in parts and she'll be back together tonight.

Sorry to hear that guys, But it happins to all of us sometime or another, Its how it gets handled when it happins is what matters most. Sounds like you guys handled it well and should have fixed in no time. to you

Very well said burrellsjeep!!

I am very surprised that you all didn't go with a flat dash after having it all out, and having to tuck the cage in there the way you did...even though I really like the factory dash with all that hard work into the cage!!

Here is a link that made me think of it:

I think he may have been referring to a comp, what would make you even think 1/4 mile...was that an attempt at sarcasm? lol this thing might hit the 20's with a tail wind if I was lucky hahaha

Awesome build thread. You need a better camera. I might be able to swing by with my DSLR and good flash to take some worthy of sending to magazines.
