Hey all,

I have a Challenge I would like to throw down to everyone..

This past weekend 12 of your "local" 4x4 buddies/friends/club members/vendors etc. took part in a class at Uwharrie..

This class was the Tread Lightly Master Trainer course..

What we all found was a great way for all of us to Do Our Part to keep Public and Private lands open to use now and for future generations.

I challenge everyone to go to this link and take the online course:
http://www.treadlightly.org/course/inc/frameset/lessonframe.htm

It will take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hr depending on your speed of test taking.. this will include not only 4x4, but fishing, camping, hiking, hunting, atv's, etc..

Before the course I will admit I was not sure what to expect or what I would really learn but after the course I am going to take a stand to get everyone to learn about Tread Lightly and what each of us can do to help keep all land open for us to use as we see fit.

This is not in anyway saying stop going threw mud, stop wheeling, hiking, fishing etc.. this is just the opposite.. This is lets go wheeling, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting more.. and by us doing the right things, other can learn from all of us..

We need to stand together and teach others so places like Tellico or Johnson Valley can stop being closed down or threatened.

So who is willing to take some time out of your day and take the course?

If you take the course and reply with your score and what you learned by taking the course..

I will put your name into a hat with others that do the same and I will ship you a case of
Lone Rider beer on me..

I dont see anyting about a drawing?

maybe I worded that wrong.

My plan is to put all the names of everyone that completes the course into a hat and I will draw one name out and send that person a case of beer..

I wish I could send everyone a case of beer.. but that is just not possible..

Missed 1, scored a 94%, missed the fishing question , so now its stuck in my head not to use live bait! from one pond to another!

What a great idea Ken! This is a great program and there is a lot to learn. This is a PRO OHV program that has the potential to have a huge psoitive impact on our sport!

Took the test, 100%. Ended up starting over like 4 times because instead of hitting next question Id hit the arrow at the bottom :D

Ive got the PDF of the end certificate saved on my computer if you wish to see it. Thought it was very informative.

94% Missed 1 question. Missed the mark all that apply part. Attention to detail dang it. I didnt know much about the snowmobile stuff. I have been camping since I was a little kid and knew most of the camping stuff.

Good refresher on trail manners. Who yields to who. Rule of thumb is bigger stuff yields to smaller stuff. Horses always get right of way, and do everything NOT to spook them.

Ok..got this finished up Ken. Thanks for posting. Scott is commited to seeing that everyone knows ''Tread Lightly'' and truthfully, you putting this on-line compelled me to participate. I learned alot as well.

my Score...89 I hit wrong button on geocahing..i said bury it. and maybe missed a fishing question as well.

and thanks for offering up a cool prize to help encourage others to do this.
Still gonna pee behind the nearest hidden tree though..lol j/k

I always knew to be very safe and respectful around horses, but I never knew they might think I was a predator if I was above them on higher ground.

having ate a few horses in the past I knew to take off my helmet so they did'nt see me as a threat and hide downhill!!!! hehe

I want free beer.

I missed some because I wrote "equestrians" instead of "horses"
Oh well.
Lots of good points in there though. Sadly, I think most of the folks on here take most of those measures, or if not, are rapidly beaten into "being more responsible" by peer pressure.

Thanks to all that took the test and spent the few minutes either learning or refreshing there knowledge on stuff..

The Winner is
