I haven't looked for a lift for my jeep in a very long time due to the fact that I haven't had any money for one in a very long time. I have been looking around and it seems that they have gone way up in price which I know was un-avoidable. I'm looking for at the very least 3.5 with full spring packs for the back but I would prefer a 4/4.5. I'm only going to have at the most $600 to get one middle of next month and wanted to know your thoughts on the different lifts that are out there. I know there is one for sale in the swap meet but it will more than likely be gone by the middle of next month. Any help with this is appreciated.

Simple.. save your money and get the right lift the first time..

if the money is burning a hole in your pocket then get protection, like rock rails, bumpers with tow points and maybe winch mount for front, skid plates etc..

then when you have the money get a good lift you should be good.. plus if you have protection and then go wheel a stock Xj it will make you learn to drive the jeep before you lift it and put big tires on it.. it will make you a better wheeler in the long run.

anyone can drive a jacked up rig on big tires and lockers..but when you can wheel a stock rig on moderate to difficult trails then you are doing something.

I actually plan on building all of that stuff when I a place to do it (live in a townhouse right now). I used to build all sorts of stuff for guys in my old Jeep club in SD which is why I wanted to get a lift first.

Thanks for the advice and I completely agree with you and that is basically how I started off wheeling with my old 84 Cherokee. I wheeled it for many mos. almost every weekend. before I built a mild 3" lift for it.

FYI RE's 3.5 w/ full leaf backs will sit as high as a 4.5 lift in the rear cause they use the same spring packs (yes I know they are going through some changes). So if you get a 3.5 from someone or a vendor that has one in stock you will need a 1" spacer for it to sit level. It's what I run in my XJ.
