I orderd a radio for my tow rig , orderd a uniden 880 bearcat like is in my Jk, it has been outstanding, and a magnet mount k30 antenna.

Where have you guys mounted your cb in your truck, how did you do it.

This is what I have to work with.

What does your overhead look like?

My dad mounted his to the floor with a bracket made of strap like they hang garage doors with right in front of the center seat

I am thinking about mounting it below the radio on the slope down, the plastic. Feels stout

I had the same dash in a Chevy 1500, I mounted mine below the radio kinda under the dash. There is a piece of metal there and it worked out great for me! ( sorry don't have any pics). The 1500 and 2500 maybe different not sure

That's where I was going to suggest.

I say you mount it some where on the dash in my truck lol. If that doesn't work though the area below the radio will work.

Stuff it up under the seat.

In my previous truck, I wasn't looking for a permanent mount, thus the mag mount antenna. For the Radio, I made an open 3 sided wooden triangle, close to the height of the console. Radio mounted to it, & it just sits in the floor, powered by the lighter plug. Originally, I drew a bungee cord through it, hook to the seats, but it didn't need it. When parked at a motel, I'd throw a towel or something over it, so it wasn't so visible, or just unscrew the antenna, pull the power cord, & remove.

Better question. How are you planning to wire up the antenna?

magnet mount k30 antenna.

.

are you routing the cable up between the bed and cab? How are you getting the cable IN the cab?

Part of the question, do you frequently change channels or run it on the same one all the time? If you mainly turn it on and off, I would place it somewhere less visible, like under the seat.

If you mess with it alot, I would make a bracket that screwed to the floor and mounted it vertical in front of the middle seat. I don't like putting extra holes in the plastic dash.

Bring the cable inside the cab through a slit in a floor grommet, and route under the mat/carpet to the radio.

@Jason W. - Similar to what @paradisePWoffrd said, I mounted a CB in my previous truck using a commercially available bracket that bolted to the floor using the front center seat/center console mounting bolts. I ran the antenna cable under the mat/carpet and brought it out under the cab through a floor grommet under the rear seat area. The truck was a Dodge so I bought the bracket off of genosgarage.com. Not sure if it'll work for your application or if it could be modified for your application. Additionally, I wired in an auxiliary fuse block from Painless Performance so I didn't have to cut into the wiring harness. It made things so much easier and cleaner. I don't have the truck anymore but I'll see if I can find some pictures of the installation.

Running the cable through the floor us a really good idea, I will have 15 ft so that should be plenty. It would be better under the seat but I want it where I can see it. I will look into the floor mount. Thanks guys

The magnet antennas are good but a solid mount that makes a good ground really helps a lot. Also, having a power source straight to the battery will prevent noise interference. At the very least, have the negative go straight to the battery.

Ah Crap. Made me take 2 pictures! This is what I used in the old 98. Just sat in the floor, at the front of the console. 3 boards, some screws, 1 strip of rubber, where it met the console [scratch protection] lighter end wired on, & magnetic mount antenna. Good enough for a two rig, or convoy, & had No noise from the lighter receptacle.
{Warning, Your size & results, may vary, due to different applications}

That is exactly where I put it on my 2010 2500HD. It works just fine there, just make sure you use some fender washers behind the plastic to spread out the load.
