CJ in Raleigh.....wow

I'd like to call him up just to hear his sales pitch and then let him know he's crazy as hell lol.

I bet he bought it at auction then got it back to dealer and his mechanic was like: Hey where is all the emissions stuff?

OOps..

I think that's the same place we test-drove an xterra. Had a misfire. Called a couple days later, said their mechanic had fixed it. Drove back up there, salesman said it had water in one cylinder, but "the mechanic drained it". I was like...there's only two ways water gets in a cylinder, neither one of them good.

Some people seam to think any CJ is gold. Its starting in the YJs now too, damn shame.

Its listed as a 5 speed? But i don't see a shifter. Is the tranny out?

You can see it in pics 5 and 7, it looks to be a T handle, but there definitely seems to be a big empty hole where the transfer case shifter would be.

Wow thanks for posting this. Looks like my 84 pile should be worth about 15k! LOL. You can see the t case shifter in the driver side interior pic. Short t handle on passenger side. It's just missing the floor tunnel cover.

My CJ's cost me as much as gold, so yeah I moving to platinum now.

well I just want to add that for a dealer to sell a car to the public it has to have passed an NC state inspection. It can't be sold until it passes inspection. maybe somebody should call the dmv....

wow, that's a lot for a 'project'. Lowback seats, missing glovebox door, tirecarrier and carrier stop and latch, who knows what else. The holes for the tire carrier stop and latch on the rear quarters are MIA, I wonder how well they were filled in. Being an '86, I was thinking it might have the Dana44, but the pics show an AMC20, at least its widetrack (correct for the year, unlike the lowback seats). Its got the standard rats nest of wires hanging from under the dash :)

What kind of emissions equipment could even be missing from an 86 that would cause it to fail inspection? Catalytic converter? Anything else?

air pump and EGR?

plus the fuel evap canister, and heated air intake tube (goes from exhaust manifold collector stove to factory air cleaner snorkel) complete with vacuum operated flapper valve
