I always tell the kid at the drive-thru that my order is "To go". You can actually watch it blow their mind....
 
Do private schools teach Common Core crap too? We've got two more years until my boy starts Kindergarten

Most private do not.
 
I think I read somewhere that nc was going away from common core?
 
As of right now we are sticking with it. There's always noise about us going away from it from somewhere.

I dont know enough about how children learn math to really say one method is better than another but i do believe the two most important things to know are how to add and the multiplication tables through 1-10. Everything in math is based on those two concepts if you have those then rest can be learned.

I belive they should be learned and/or memorized. I think they are trying to hard to get kids to think through the math too early. There are some things that should just be committed to memory. Multiplication tables is one of them. Just like the alphabet. You shouldnt have to think through 6x8. It should come automatically = 48.
