Finally time to get floor poured in shop.. and to my amazement it is like pulling teeth to get a price qoute..

floor is 24x36

anyone have good experiences?

there's a guy on here that was offering concrete services a while back. his screen name is: debruler

not sure how far he travels, but might be worth a PM.

residential, might as well figure about $450-600 per yard, graded, formed, poured, and finished.

However, on slabs versus footers, the labor gets to be less, so you may can expect down around $350/yard.

Assuming you have a 4" slab and prob. 8x8x#10 WWM, and minimal grading, you could prob. get out around $3500, maybe less as construction work is starting to get a little cheaper these days.

References? You can call Penhall. they do fantastic work, but are really, really proud of it. Let me know if you need a contact for them.

for reference.. here is area that needs to have concrete poured..

3 sides already have frame for concrete.. it probably needs about 6" of rock in rear and 2" in front to level it out befor concrete can go in.. and I am looking around 11 to 12 yards of concrete

"debruler" did my garage but it was much smaller, 12x20, it was an existing almost level dirt floor. I supplied the concrete, he made the order though, since the plant is across the street from me. I think he charged me $350-400 for the labor. Best upgrade I have done since finally putting a door on the garage. If you think you may use him and want to see my floor as an example of his work PM me.

A few notes from a neighbor of mine who just finished doing the same thing..Make it reinforced so you can add a lift later, even if you're not sure you will.

X2. adding rebar is really cheap and making the pad a little thicker is fairly cheap as well.

ya I drew out the dimensions of where the car lift will go.. so they can just add a thicker section 12 feet wide by 36" wide.. so that way I can add a lift..

another reason i want the person to actually come see the space to give qoute., phone qoutes are ok.. but without seeing what i actualy want I know the qoutes over the phone will be off

your pad looks to be so simple, a phone quote would prob. be just as accurate. If anything, it may be cheaper, especially if you have difficult access, etc.

Hell, most of my phone quotes have been just as accurate on simple things. If the job doesn't come to at least $5000, I do what I can not to come to the site. There is way too much project management time involved with the low $$$ that the risk versus time/$$$ spent visiting the site is allows quoting over the phone.
