I am currently employed through a contract (4 yrs ) that I won by beating other contractors competing for the job. I won the contract by promising to do a much better job than the last contractor and the competing ones, while saving the employer lots of money, though some of my performance claims may have been a little inflated or bordoring on false. Anyway, I got the contract and I think I've done a fine job so far on most of my projects, some of my employers seem to agree w me on that. The contract is soon to be renewed or awarded to another contractor and even though I'm sure I've done a fine job I'm worried about loosing the contract. Alot is going on right now w issues of finance, budget, security and my relashonship w overseas vendors and other problems I probably need to address NOW but I feel it's more important to do all I can, no matter what, to make sure MY contract is renewed. I have kinda put my job on hold while I work on that, I can fix the problems later. Anyone think this is a bad idea or bad for the employer? some of my employers seem to think it's a great idea, they would like to keep me onboard, despite my shortcommings. Any "employers" have any advice?..............................

This is all pretty vague - but what I keyed in on is this...

though some of my performance claims may have been a little inflated or bordoring on false.
.

Are you asking how to deal with the fact that you oversold/underbid yourself and basically lied to get yourself the job and cut out other folks?
Are these multiple contracts? Confusing since you use "employers" plural.
Everybody knows that contractors er, "exaggerate" to get the bid, is the problem that some are ok with the fact that you did, and others are not?

I guess we have to give you some respect for being honest about it at least...

Honestly it would help if we had a better idea what you are doing. Are we talking construction contracting, contract IT programming, engineering, floor sweeping? Subcontracting manufacturing?

What I got: Should I put more effort into renewing my contract with BallsDeep Corp. Or should I continue to provide maximum productivity to BallsDeep Corp and risk losing my contract to another contracting company.

First of all lets be clear on all the statuses here.
Am I correct that:
You are employed by a company. Company X.
Company X has a big contract with somebody else (4 years) call them Company Y.
You did the work to get that contract into place, hence you call it "your contract" (although the contract is between company X and Y - not you).
The 4 years is up, and that contract will be renewed, or not - maybe given to another company.

you are asking if you should drop everything and make sure that contract gets renewed, even though it may not be your job?

It seems to me you should ask your boss what they want you to do with your time. That's their job, to have you do what is best for their company.

I opalagize for the confusion here and wasting anyones time on they're sincere replies, trying to help me w this question. I should have said "hypothetically speaking" at the begining of my jibberjabber. I ASSumed it would be obvious what I was refering too, somewhat innacuratly :eek:ops: Sorry.
