As a Christmas present to my brother, we are taking a train to Raleigh in the morning and I taking him to see his favorite band at the lincoln Theatre. So we are going to be on foot ALL DAY tomorrow, so we need some things to do to kill the time. I myself enjoy just walking around and seeing new stuff and taking pictures of cool things and eating at good places I can't eat at back home. What are some cool places to visit or cool things to do and good places to eat that are right around Cabarrus St. that is within walking distance that we could do? I want this to be really fun for him, since we don't get to hang out just me and him that much.

of mice and men, did you buy advance tickets? i think they have sold out already. have you been to the lincoln theater before?
if not get ready for a crowd, and keep your temper in check. one of my good friends is a bouncer there, as far as things to do, i couldn't tell you because if i'm in downtown i'm at a bar somewhere.

Yeah of mice and men...Im going to see Woe is me. Yeah i bought tickets back in December. I've never been to lincoln theatre before, but a slew of others. We are gonna get up there at 10 tomorrow morning and just hang out, grab some lunch and get in line early...I hate being in the middle especially at a sold out show....

Coopers or Hot Weiners or Armadillo for lunch. I'm no help other than that. Not much fun stuff to do during the week other than go to a bar and drink the afternoon away.

cool, I will check those places out! thanks! Yeah, I wouldn't mind just having a few beers with my bro and just walk around and see some new stuff...I heard there is a german place to eat at downtown....can't remember the name, but I'd like to go there as well.

Hit up Fayetteville street. They updated it when i was in college and it's nice now.

If you have time, go to Moore's Square. Lots of bars/pubs that you can drink at before the Lincoln theater. I've been to Lincoln theaterseveral times, good stuff.

There are several restaurants near the train depot... The Pit, Jibarra (Mexican), and Humble Pie are off W. Davie Street (one block from Cabarrus).

Poole's Diner is on the way toward Lincoln Theatre and is supposed to be really good... foodie magazine good but normal food, I think.

Clyde Cooper's is awesome... a block from Lincoln on E. Davie. City Market is a block east (Moore Square is to the north of City Market) and has an El Rodeo and Woody's, which has good wings and burgers. Cooper's is the only place that doesn't serve beer, so maybe have that for lunch. ;)

Good call on the R Line, Ralph. It runs a different route during the day and after about 6pm, I think.

Yep, the R-line is a good way to get around.
And if you want more to do than kill your liver, all of the museums near the old Capitol Building are free.

If you are into guns, I seriously suggest the history museum. Lotsa ols firearms and a replica of "Carbine" Williams shop with his real tools.

Matt

we'll be there for Jackyl and Automag too! I'm stupid excited. a bunch of my friends from the Raleigh area that are gonna be there know Jesse James Dupree personally so I'm gonna get to meet him. I can't wait!
