Glad I could help... I was looking at the new year deals recently since my ancient Craftsman 7 1/4 saw is wobbly. I need tool boxes though to get my shop in Hartsville under some sort of control. So I'm just looking around a lot right now.

So what is the deal with the Forge battery?

@Ron if it were me I’d go with the SDS Max version just to not be limited on size or power, and then buy an SDS Max to SDS Plus adapter for $60 and leave it in. But if all you’ll ever need is SDS Plus then I guess that’ll work, but with my luck the first thing I’d go to drill would be one size bigger than the largest SDS Plus option

Just the latest generation of Milwaukee batteries. They keep improving the cell power and density, so it’s the third generation of the M18 line.
So buy these before any other? I have several old units crapping out. I assume they use the same charger?

Yes, same Charger. We are starting to swap some of our M18 batteries and getting the forge in. They are a whole different battery animal. Chargin is way faster even on the 8Ah. They charge in the old style 5 Ah time.

Dafuq you think you did posting that battery deal for me? Finally started buying some big boy batteries, so I had to have a looksee. Got poking around, saw some lights…and I flashed back to this morning when it was still dark out and I heard a helluva noise in the woods and realized the closest good light was on a rifle. Didn’t like that (it was a nice doe by the way). So figured a Milwaukee handheld light wouldn’t hurt while I was surfing the tool section anyway.

How it started…

That triple really got me…I wanted it for all the time I don’t spend under vehicles anymore, and it was free on Home Depot, but couldn’t bundle it with anything I wanted…so I had to go find it elsewhere.

I don’t understand moderation…

That link got me too. I've been wanting a few more batteries and a cordless grinder. This allowed me to find a killer deal on both.

What I ordered finally came in. One of the batteries was too dead to charge. So I tried "jump starting" it. To my surprised it worked and took a charge.

I was drilling some holes in masonry yesterday with a little Milwaukee hammer drill.... Decided this is BS, I need to go get a cheap SDS drill. I bet HF has one that'll do the job. Sure enough, $70 before tax... Oh, but the reviews are shit. Okay, what's the good HF one cost? Bit much, I bet I can get a Milwaukee for that. Sure can, and there's a deal - spend $200 on batteries and get the drill for free. That deal is sold out. What else is there? Buy a $400 fuel drill/driver combo pack (that I don't *really* need) and get the SDS free.

How did I go from "let's go spend a little bit of money to make this project suck less" to spending an hour checking prices and comparing options and feeling like I'm getting ripped off if I don't spend 2x on stuff I don't need?

Also, in before Matt replies with "sell the extra charger, drill, and a battery on eBay and get a battery and fuel driver for free." 😂
From the Milwaukee thread on Irate, you can return the combo to HD, if that is where the deal is from, without returning the SDS.

The "deal" basically just gives you 33pct off each item. So yeah, you can get the SDS for $134 plus tax if you buy both then return the kit.

A couple years ago I read that they had no way of taking the free thing back since it was not "purchased" and a lot of people were cheating the system that way. I don't think it's right, and I wouldn't do it, but there are those who would.

What kind of amperage is on that plug with all those charging?
