I’ve always found it more exciting following rigs more capable then mine

That's how I got into racing sportbikes/supermoto back in the late 90s. Getting tunnel vision and heart racing...nothing like chasing a guy on a bike with 1/2 the power and 4X the skill walk away from you motivated me to push it harder until I got good at it too, and how I transitioned to wheeling.

Watching Bruce Hatton walk right up Daniel in his little Tacoma, then coaching me up in my open/open bronco gave me a rush. But it wasn't until I attempted to follow @Jason W. Up the v-notch at big creek in my lowly tj on 33s that I felt that same tunnel vision and racing heart that I got on the track. I was hooked after that. Following more capable rigs is EXACTLY the motivation that keeps me excited.

@paradisePWoffrdI hope nobody took the trip as a "follow the leader" thing. I was content with shwoing them around, not "look at me I have a built rig on stickies".

I had more fun than I have in a long time last weekend. I love the very difficult trails and obstacles. More so, I enjoy the fellowship and meeting/making new friends. The group size was perfect and the trail choices allowed us to cover a ton of ground.

I had a blast and watching you and your rig was awesome. At most of our rides, Robbie’s CJ is the most built rig, so it was great to see what yours could do. I just hope you weren’t bored riding with us, because you made sure we ran the trails that all of us could do (even if we didn’t think we could haha). I will follow you around there anytime, the trails we ran were perfect, and I loved seeing what we could all do.

I also think the best part was seeing old friends and making new friends, and I hope to get to ride with @Jody Treadway soon!

And just for the record, my TJ will never see tons and stickies haha

Jody pushed me past my comfort zone. Got me uncomfortable. I even get a dent in my Jeep. I doubt I would wheel with him again.

I ashamed to say it, but I ate the same meat and it left a lot to be desired

But for reals that tenderloin was on point, especially when it was fried in butter the next day.

My second time at Harlan I joined a group lead by Kenneth a day before CTB rode together.

Let’s just say I was at the rear of the pack and I was just blindly hitting ledges and rocks trying to keep up with the tail lights in front of me on trails I had never seen. I remember “we’ll just hit some warm up trails” was the phrase haha. No spotter just having fun while being scared. I gained a lot of confidence in my equipment after that day

I had hit about everything we did at Harlan before, except WhiteTail Crawl. Didn’t even know that was there. That was a killer trail and I’ll be doing that again.
I like to wheel with everyone, big, small, beginner, don’t matter. Shoot we had guys in a JK on 33s that really didn’t have a clue what they were in for. You can bet they learned and they had fun. They were willing to try and trusted us to coach them along. And we understood when they wanted to go around something, no shame in that. We all started somewhere.

@Jody Treadway I figured out my temp gauge, it was just the positive wire for the gauge came loose when I was gently placing the front end in Steel Hill.

Those guys in JK were really good sports, and they certainly took that JK from mall rated to trail rated in one weekend. Also used their winch, straps, and hi lift all for the first time!

We were leaving today and ran into some people from Wisconsin with a map on the hood of their JK.
Dude, his wife and 3 kids in the JK on 35s. A TJ on 35s was with them as well. Dude driving with his 28 year paraplegic brother riding shotgun. Asked me if I knew the park well enough to show them around.
3 hours later they had ran some trails they never dreamed of.
It melted my sarcastic heart to see the sheer joy in the paralyzed man's face when we stopped for lunch. True joy.
My trip was great already. That made my year right there.
Gonna meet up with them at Windrock later this year for round 2.

I'd be interested in that trip if theres room.

Pin Ball, Railbed, Fish Fossil, LRG and Killin Time.
Pretty good trails for people not accustomed to rocks covered in snot.
Took us about 3 hours all said and done

Damn if that's not what I told Jason to run in his "I have to go build a new rig right fucking now" JK. I only planned on it taking two hours. I move faster than you in the woods, I guess.
