CUTLERFAB SHOP THREAD

Fuel cell is complete for the #wingnutbuggy, aside from mounting. Kept the filler low and off to the side to save room for a basket/ rack of some sort, (that I'm still designing in my brain). 25x12 area above the cell.

Site tube fuel gage. Very cool idea, it'll never fail to tell ya how much fuel you have! Awesome!
Makes me want one now LOL

So what are site tubes made of? What are the chances of backing into a rock and destroying that? What about a branch garbing it on a dense trail and ripping ripping it out? I ask because that kind of weird no one ever has shit like that happen to them happens to me.......

yep. I'll likely do the same on my next project.

Clear gasoline rated tubing. This one is between the rear seat and the tank, just visible from the left rear tire under the fender tube. It's very well protected but anything can happen. i would carry a couple -4 an caps just in case. Added bonus, if you ever got water in the tank, easily tip the chassis to one side and drain; this has happened to me... wish I'd had a bottom drain that night...

The Atlas T cases come with a site tube also. So far, no issues with it getting snagged, or even leaking.

Ah as I look back I see. Yes I've seen pictures of tubes on tcases, atlas and D300 I think it was, but never in person and thought I'd ask....

Fuel cell is mounted on the bottom, pucks ready on the top. The basket will bolt to pucks, attached to rear, upper tailgate bar, and a forth coming rear seat harness bar. The cell will be contained via upper and lower pucks- through the basket and harness bar. Slots on back wall of basket are for the harnesses.

Slots around 3 sides of basket for containment of tools/ amenities.

To be welded Friday.

The cell is baffled and the top pucks are directly over the baffle.

All weldered up, ready for attachment and harness bar.

Some of my best tig aluminum welds to date. Very happy (and addicted, ready to lay more aluminum dabs.)

Seems the thought process is still ahead of the games. The basket with all the dimples, giving it strength, and also serving as a place to secure bungee cords or straps. AWESOME!

Both look sweet.

Will the harness bar be removable?

That's right...

And now the trans and steering cooler are mounted... next week be the fuel pump, filter, repair, etc....

Vent line will be 3/8 aluminum, routed 3 sides and down, inside the basket; it will be very clean and hidden.

I have a question. Is there any concern with mud / debris getting slung up on those coolers in that location? Trying to learn, seeing as how I’ve got to figure all this stuff out on my buggy as well.

Numerous buggies mounted there. I questioned it myself, but talked to a few guys running there, no issues. Only place I have to put them, being it's a 4 seater anyway.

I have done an amazing job at making sure Matt has the least amount of space to fit the most amount of shit!

I'm pretty sure nothing on this buddy will be standard catalog part. Partially because of what he has to work and partially because, well what's the fun in that?

I’m gonna have to pass, I’ll have to try and go another time. I’ve got too much stuff going on right now. Crossing my fingers I’ll finally get the k5 in the woods this month as soon as I finish putting back together a buddy’s TJ.
