D.P. Build

Cleaned it up some yesterday and took it for a spin.
A little bit of tech.
*We redid the ram mount completely from its original location. It hit the harmonic balancer under full compression and looked like fireworks were going off under my Jeep. With that came a new ram guard.
*Installed the strongest tie rod on the planet. 1.75"x.250 wall tubing w/ 7/8x3/4 heims.
*New tires are obviously Krawlers. I went with the 17" DIY beadlock kit from Dan @ RuffStuff. 39 5/16" bolts/wheel.
*I would like to note...Cheap spray paint sucks. Napa Colorline is just like spraying water with black food coloring in it. Rust is bad, so go ahead and spend the $ on decent paint. Buy Rustoleum products.
*The rear output seal on my t case wasn't allowing full engagement of the nut holding on the yoke. We removed the o-ring completely and got a full 3 more turns of engagment which cured my driveshaft vibes. I know I'll lose some fluid but my 300 is flipped and leaks anyways so I just keep an eye on it.
*Recharged the air shocks due to a leaking schrader.
*Greased every single zerk on the rig.
*Installed a pair of Hella horns which are the most obnoxious things ever but make for some good times!
*Installed new spring clamps on front springs.
*Ordered PS cooler tonight. Will get that on next week.
Installed new lights on the trailer to replace all the broken ones. Got a few new things for the tow rig while I was at it. Looking forward to wheeling season :huggy:

pure sexy man... Looks so good.

The power steering cooler looks good, but those horns.... some serious beep beep!

Funny how that happens! We all think it was pre-stressed. I wasn't even on it that bad when it broke. Tire just quit pulling and that was that.

Ha, barely! All the ladies loved some hill shootin'. I could barely get a sip in. Lol Sam drove and got it a bit sketchy...it doesn't flex like his buggy.

Had some carnage at the BDB ride awhile back and left it sitting on the trailer ever since. Decided to knock the dust off and work on it some this past week.

New stuff:

Brown Dog Poly Motor mounts
Full Hydro steering
New rear Drive shaft
Possible new skid plate

Still waiting on some steering parts but managed to get the ram mounted

Believe it or not I still have that Hella in my tongue box on the trailer. It is destroyed though! I'm going to remove the other.

Orbital, steering shaft/column are all welded, painted, and installed. Will be making lines next week and steering should be complete.

Installed new 1410 yoke and driveshaft that arrived in the mail last week.

Thanks for the assist setup. had to go with a skid for the cylinder. what i've done so far... told you i'd send a pic of my shade tree junk. delete it from your build thread. didn't know where else to put it. you've got a sweet rig dude. let me know next time you go wheelin if you've got room for one more jeep, i'd love to tag along, brian

I have completed the above list and was able to wheel at Dixie Run; rig did great and I didn't have any major problems. Some new things I plan to address....

I need a new steering reservoir as mine doesn't have enough capacity to support my ram. It spews fluid during trail rides and while the stock pump is adequate for how I use the Jeep, it is getting annoying.

I am going to add a modified tj center console for storage and cup holders. Also adding an removable ammo can/pelican box to have a dry, lockable storage area that can be taken out of the rig when camping etc.

He was to busy driving that death trap to answer you?

Forgot to share what we did for his steering arms. Knuckles are plated and he got the wingnut fab special.

I seem to rebuild this Jeep every two years. History has repeated itself again and I just took it out for a test ride on the 4th with great results.

Highlighted list for those who like tech:

Solid knuckles/keyed hi steer arms with ARP studs
Rebuilt axles with all new seals
16x2.0 SAWs 175/200
True 4 link with 1.25 heims
New front frame
New front fenders/boat sides/rear
Custom alternator bracket
aluminum radiator.
Exhaust
ALOT of misc. items

I don't get out as much as I'd like so I seem to punish this Jeep more often than not. I rolled hard last year and that is what prompted the large rebuild. Here are a few pics.....

EDIT: the above knuckle plating design works for general crawling but does have its limits. This broke the knuckle and the studs on impact
