Dakota SAS exo-cage w/custom bed

I was talking about Keegan Mabe (unrulynfs). He is always at the diesel dyno days doing alot of video and I was thinking I had seen your screen name somewhere around with his stuff. Didnt you have the yellow dodge on 37's?

luv it

I luv it man ur truck is kick ass. im doing the samething to my 2002. ive been working on my truck for 5yrs now and almost got her done. my question to you is what is your coilover travel length? i have 12s and im trying to figure out how high i need to make my hoops cause i dont want my truck to be stupid tall looking. I luv your ride height.

Im running 14's. I had to make my hoops all the way up to the bottom of the fenders to try to keep my ride height down. 12's would have worked better probably because I am sitting about as low as I could go with the 14's. Coil rates affect height as well. I am running 275/350's and if I were to do it over again, I would probably go with 300/400's just for a little firmer ride on the street.

Thanks for ur input greatly appreciated. I'll b posting pics soon of my truck I did a 408 stroker 46re with 48re internals and 2004 superduty diffs locked 5.13s on 37s with ADS 2.5x 12" coilovers it satrted life as a gay v6 truck

Can't wait to see it, I am glad to see some other Daks being built. Sounds like a beast.

i have a question for you. what did you do about your abs/ speed sensor in the rear diff? can you splice the diff sensor into the transmission sensor? im in the process of chopping my truck up and it dawnedon me now about them sensors and help will be greatly appreciated thanks

I am using an sgi-5. You splice into the sensor on the tyranny and it converts that signal from 4000 to the 8000 that the speeding and tach need. I have some good links to info about this on my laptop, when I get home where I can get to it I will post them up for you.

Thank u so very much that information it was very useful. i tried doin something to see if my idea would work and it did. so i'm running 2004 ford 1 tons and it has a tone ring and a sensor. so what i did was compare the dodge and ford tone rings and it turns out that ford has twice as much teeth as the dodge so i ground off everyother tooth and tried it and it works.

Well I sold another truck, so I get to keep the Dakota. Back on doing stuff to it again. Just finished building a set of tube doors just in time for the Flats

Haven't done anything to it in a while, just got it out flexing around for the heck of it. These are my mall crawler flex pics LOL!

Hi i loved how your dak turned out. i recently baught a 01 club cab 4x4 dak that i would eventually like to put a lift on. So i was wondering how much was the final cost on your build and would you ever do the same type of build but in a milder form for a customer?
Mine i dont want to go over 33-35 in tires because it would be a daily driver and my drive to work is 45 mins each way.

Suffered some carnage Saturday up at the flats. A stock driveshaft doesn't like 40's and alot of skinny pedal.

Got a new heavy duty shaft back fresh from Dave @ Oliver's Driveshaft. Super heavy duty 3.5" x .250 wall DOM. This thing is heavy and should be able to handle anything I throw at it now.

Well I haven't wheeled any in a while and had put it up for sale, but yesterday I decided to keep on wheeling with it and adding on. Got some new 35-spline stub shafts, slugs and spicer joints from Oliver's Driveshaft (Thanks Dave). Going to Harlan in a couple of months and with the Flats and a couple of other things coming up I figured it is time to upgrade to some stronger stuff.

great build. i always liked the one on the cover of petersons mag back when those crew cabs first came out. something about them on 40+ tires just looks right!

I know this thread is old and the truck is for sale.. but i am building my 99 ext cab 5.2 4x4 ( final project for college) .. I plan on D60's and 37's ... could you let me know what rear springs you are using along with the shackle flip ? And a parts list for the front - the coilovers .. Thanks for the help ...

Sorry, haven't been on in a few days. I used the factory Dak springs in the rear along with a shackle inversion kit from DIY4x4 for a Ramcharger. I also have a lift block in the rear on mine which I don't like, but it is what it is until I go 4 link. I built a set of traction bars to keep the springs from twisting with those blocks.

For the front I'm using a 3 link kit from Barnes 4wheel drive with FOA 14" 2.5 coilovers with remote res. If I were doing one lower and more street mannerly, I would do a radius arm setup and only go with a 12" coilover since you will be keeping it lower on 37's. I'm using 2" .250 wall DOM for all my links, and Johnny joints on the ends for offroad durability, but you could use poly bushings on one end to soften the road vibs.

Sqrl$$s,
Can you guide me in the right direction. I have an 03 QC 5.9 build project I pretty much stealing most of your design. This is what I have and the direction Im going.
89 HP dana 60 front 5:38 elocker
89 Sterling 10.25 5:38 grizzly locker
40" Pro Comp MT2's on 17" wheels

Goal:
Interstate worthy (be able to have wife drive comfortably @ 80 MPH on the Interstate)
3 link FOA coil over front
high steer with hyro assist steering
forward pitman arm steering box (astro van, super duty, not sure yet)
rear disc with ebrake
shackle flip, possibly chevy rears springs
rear traction bar
Keep as low as possible with enough up travel to be comfortable on the road.

Questions:
How do the eldorado rear disc calipers work, are they worth the 600.00
should I run 12 or 14" coil overs
would you still recommend 300/400 coils on the FOA's
what do you think of Jonny joints vs Barnes endure joints
Did you have to cut your outters off to get correct pinion angle and caster
Did you end up doing only 1 bold for your rear cross member on the doubler tcase

I have read a TON and I mean a TON of Dakota builds and yours seems to fit what I have in mind for a finish product. I would be very thankful for any advise you have.
