lol, yes.
Absolutely washouts should, well, washout. I was thinking more from the side of the employers, your example above is about the employees.
The problem is when people are maybe not ideal employees, but not terrible, and approaching the limit of,"Will this guy pan out or not?" there's an inherent bias to go ahead and give them the push NOW to save $$.
It is a good ideal, just have to figure out things like this.

lol, I'm like the Director of Reality. My role is to find problems w/ stuff, always taking the alternative angle. Make things stronger by trial. You guys paint me as a liberal b/c I point out issues w/ the vast majority of conservative arguments here. Yet my liberal buddies all say I'm a right wing nutjob b/c I also poke holes in their silly idealist ivory towers.

Ha...I think that would actually make a pretty damn good team...good amount of checks and balances. Nothing but red herrings, paranoia and liberalism.

That really doesn't prove your point.
It does prove an alternate solution works, but look at what you quoted.

I'm suggesting quite the opposite. Wide Scale abandonment causes long term societal harm.
