Duke Energy High Bill?

I do use them to supplement heat. Especially if you leave a computer on your lap and block the fans so they get really f'ing hot.
It's amazing how much heat comes off our our 2010-era 52" plasma TV. I consider it a bonus in the winter. Been meaning to stick an ammeter on it to see how much that thing is sucking out of the wall 6 hrs a day

Did some research, our gas consumption is up 40% compared to the same period 2 years ago (!). Last year not a good basis b/c it was so warm.
The insulation/poor house efficiency is an issue, but that's been static.
After some thought, I realized that (1) we haven't had the furnace serviced in many years, and (2) due to an oddity w/ the water heater, it's been running on a higher setting for the last couple of months. I'm sure that will do it...

yup, we have those on the kids' rooms. Not on the front main windows b/c they are in the living/dining room and look like shit on the inside.
Note, they don't completely solve the problem when the frame itself is drafty and you can feel the cold through the wall and trim around the window.

1200 sqft house, built in 2002 2 of us here. All electric

1052 kWh of use from 11/20 thru 12/20 ($117.27)

Got my bill today that ended January 23.

1626 kwh, $175.95. Previous high bill (in 15 years) was $160-ish. That was on old heat pump. I'm OK with that.
