Dunlop Mud Rovers?

I ran 305-70-r16 on my Z71 and they did really well on and off road. On the street I would run about 45lbs and off road anywhere from 12 to 20 lbs. They would clean out better aired down. I run BFG Muds on here now and don't have to do anything to them but big price difference between the two...

i cut a 33x12.50 sidewall open the FIRST day i ran them offroad, try explaining that one at the tire insurance claim. i hit something very sharp that i couldnt see in a small mud hole a relativley high speed. they then lasted me another year of use DD and mild offroad with no issues or major tire wear. They moved onto a friend of mine after a year and he wore them out in a couple months. Its all about how you drive, but i agree the sidewalls are VERY weak and the compound is soft.

they were actually the ones i purchased from stone that he speaks of :D

running them now! Ive been running mine in 31/10.5 for abotu 11,000 miles and they still have about 65% tread remaining. In my opinion, they are wearing well, but I drive a TJ so its lightweight. Offroad, they've always performed, the places where I havent been able to climb something because of traction have been few. I've wheeled with friends running BFGs or MTRs and there wasnt really a difference. For Uwharrie...ull be golden. As for the sidewall...im doin fine so far but all I wheel is Uwharrie. I have pinched them between rocks and no damage...although I am sure in more extreme scenarios they are not the strongest out there.
Now the cons: After two offroad trips one of my rear tires due to rocks lost like 4 knobs and it rode lousy. I had the insurance from Discount Tire...i went in and told them "Hey i went 4wheelin, i climbed rocks and a rock must have done this to my tire." They said, "No problem, come back in two days we will have a new one for you."
Problem number two: In the past two weeks my Jeep has been shaking at about 40-60 mph. I am almost positive they need to be balanced, but if thats the case...balancing is free so its not really a con and it should all be fixed.

I do believe that a BFG MT is a better tire but in my size it cost around 145 each. I got my Rovers for 88 each...that is how I made my decision

I would rather run a BFG M/T over a MTR any day.

as stated above I used Dunlops and liked them on the trail just did not last long.

I have also run BFG and loved them on street and trail.. even though they were a little load...

BUT as for MTR's I HATED THEM.. they sucked on the trails and wore like crap on the street..

just my.02

Well it's not much of a decision for me as to whether I run the BFs or the GYs.I work for GY.I'm running the MTR's now and don't really have any complaints, except for mud.But I don't do much muddin' anyway. The reason I'm asking about the rovers is because we also own Dunlop, and our store can't get me a set of MTR's until at least the middle of June.I'll probably go ahead and give the rovers a try.As far as lasting,my TJ is no longer my DD so that won't be a concern.

Thanks

I run them now. They do well off road and are decent on road. I have yet to cut a sidewall (crossing fingers). Mine are 35x12.50s. They do run a little small though. Mine are about 65% and measure around 33". But I picked them up with wheels and 1k on them for $350. :D
My next tire will be more off road oriented (Swamper) , but these do well.

I have a set on my 96 zr2, they are great tires off road but if you do more driving on road than off i wouldent recommend, not good for your everyday driving vehicle
