Thanks to you, Dylan. And I'd like to throw one more on the list.

Thank you...to Joe Darlington for dragging ours and many other broken happy asses off the trail and back to a safe repair spot. Also for lending tools and a hand wherever needed. The finish line would have been a lot more cluttered without you! :D

I hope everybody had a great time. I'm glad folks stepped up and cleaned up afterwards, not that I doubted somebody would. I was planning to go back next weekend for a cleanup, but it sounds like my work is done! If this happens again next year, (and I hope it does,) I'm driving!

For everyone I'm Chris Brittain aka Liftnaleg...It is so cool to put names and faces with screen names..Thanks Dylan you are the man....You worked your arse off.....

Anyone have any of the surrounding communities take on the event? The Forestry Services take? Any complaints of destruction, or negativity in any fashion aside from possible frustrations of 1st time organization of the event? that last statement isn't a knock on anyone, just that it's the only complaint I've read. If that's it, then big applaud for all that organized and help execute the event!

Dylan, I just wanted to say that I had a blast up there this weekend, and I really hope that you guys will get in touch with me to do the communications again next year. I've got a few ideas about some things that we could do to make things go smoother from a comms stand point, but I'll save that for PM's. I expected to have a good time, but this event completely surpassed my expectations in nearly every way. I feel that I should be the one thanking you for busting your ass and making this great event happen.

And on another note, after we extracted the white XJ off the race course late Saturday I somehow managed to leave my strap up on top of Kodak. I doubt that it was still around by the time you guys got up there cleaning up the race course, but if anyone happened to pick it up I'd appreciate it if I could get it back from you. It would have been up on the Kodak bypass. I went over to 4WP today to get another one and was shocked at the price of a decent 3" strap like the one that I left up there!

x bazillion, thanks Dylan, it was obvious you were working your tail off. You were the most visible worker, the goto guy, but also thanks to everyone else involved too. I had a such a great time blasting around the trails, I hope I can get my junk ready to thrash it again, only faster :huggy:

But yea Dylan did the damn thang, I didn't ever leave the Festival area the whole week/weekend so I know not what went on in the trails but sounds like you did the damn thang with style :driver:

BTW: thanks to everyone who helped me with my tranny for those two really not fun days I spent on it, specially Cody and the Dude with the Orange and Black exo'd 4runner (I feel like a Jack azz I can't remember your name :shaking: ) and then Big John of course, loading my Jeep on the trailer today was not easy with no forward gears and a blown out steering ram on my full hydro setup :handed:

big ups to you bro.
You earned it.... keeping the race moving and lots of GOOD people out there showed up to support our sport.
plus no one got hurt!
:beer::beer:

Dylan,Thanks without you the race wouldn't of happened.

We had a blast:beer:

A volunteer's perspective:

Most of the trail volunteers worked both days. They were instrumental in the success of this event along with the cooperation of the Forest Service rangers! Most spent over 12 hours on site Friday and 14 hours Saturday! However, this is dwarfed by the amount of time Dylan W spent just this weekend, not to mention the work he has put in on this event since it's inception. I understand that Sean, who I have never met by the way, was the promoter of the event but IMO the race would not have happed without Dylan W's tireless efforts! Thanks, Dylan, for a job well done!

Ranger Deborah Walker and her staff should be thanked for their efforts this weekend! They also put in the long days Friday and Saturday and their cooperation and help was invaluable in the success of this event. Ranger Walker held a de-briefing after the race both days to share positives and negatives of the days activities, both from the F.S. perspective and the race volunteers. The F.S. did not say they would not do it again, so I take that as a positive sign. On the other hand, there were F.S. concerns relating to environmental damage, especially tree damage, race communications, the amount and length of delays caused by breakages, logistics for emergency situations and crowd control. I didn't hear any F.S. concerns that I thought were unreasonable or that couldn't be worked out through mutual cooperation in the event of another race happening. I think that we probably exceeded the F.S. expectations of how the race would succeed and earned a chance for another 4x4 Cross race!

Ok guys...I started this thread to say thanks to the vols.... and everyone involved..Sure I did alot during the race, but...Sean D and Dale are the guys that have been working tirelessly around the clock for the past several months, pulling off the impossible. Everything, and I do mean everything, all starts with them. From the dream of this event, to the completion on Sunday, was the idea and vision of Sean D. Sure there have been some hickups along the way by everyone, but all in all.. this was a hugely successful event, and we need to all recognize this. I mean, just getting the rangers to listen to the request, let along them agreeing to hold it in the Nat. Forest was an act of congress in itself..not to mention the un-liscensed rig rt. being opened up so yall did'nt have to trailer to the race site. Then there were all the sponsors,prizes,vendors..ect.
All that was lined up by Sean. Dont forget about the web-site...that was a time consuming monster itself. This list goes on and on and on...Sean was able to line up new pit-bulls for all the super hard working..un-paid vols..that have been working since URE opened, to promote this event. That was an awsome feat and new tires for several folks IS A BIG DEAL!! Thats only a fraction of the hard work that Sean has accomplished in a short amount of time. When I sit here and reflect...Thinking about Sean, his wife, his 6mo. old boy, his family....man that guy has sean some balls and went out on a thin limb for all of us. I would not have had the guts to even come close to what he has done for this sport. I certainaly appreciate all the props I am recieving and it makes my heart swell, but at the same time...I feel like a glory hog, and that aint me! I want everyone to think about what I have said, and then ask yourselves......could/would you have pulled this off, in this amount of time, with all the hurdles Sean has had to deal with?

I think we should all focus on thanking Sean and the rest of American Wheeler staff and say thank you to ALL....not just me! Thanks, Dylan

I had a good time working with ranger Jeff & Kim. I look forward to doing it again soon!:bounce2:
