Will be down grading trucks very soon. Have been looking at silverados 1500 and a few 2500. Have been back and forth on f150s with the 5.4.

Basic requirements are 4wd, minimum extended cab but prefer 4 door (this makes the Silverado’s harder to find).

I’ve found some of both trucks but the fords seem to be a little cheaper with lower miles than the Chevy, also way more of them in 4 door with high trim packages.

Im really thinking Chevy is the better bet since 5.3s are easy to find and upgraded parts are cheap and everywhere.

Also any trucks out there to consider besides them? I haven’t really looked at dodge, seen some avalanches out there but not really a fan of them either.

What are you downgrading from? And what is your target budget?

I'd try to find a GM 1500HD with 6.0 and quadrasteer just because I think they are cool.

+1 on the quadrasteer. Love mine even though it’s 2wd. Any 1500hd has a 6.0 and 4l80e

6.4 powerstroke, some may say this is an upgrade lol

Quardrasteers seem cool but on 15-20 year old truck I’m thinking simplistic is better

Budget is around 8000 could go more for a really nice truck if needed. Problem is everyone seems to think their truck with 300,000 miles is worth 10,000. I’m also not in a huge hurry as I have another truck to drive so I can wait a while if needed.

Or pulling my boat which is all I’d really be doing with it
Buy a suburban (2500) for the eminent herd of ankle biters y'all fittin to have

Don’t think I haven’t considered one
I'm old. I'm not that smart. But I have experience and others can attest. Just shop for a 4x4 suburban 2500 and save yourself 3-8 vehicle swaps

Look in/near Atlanta.Seems they always have a better selection of stuff down that way and rust shouldnt too much of an issue.

Fords are cheaper for reasons...

I started looking for another GMT800 for a cheap truck to replace my much more expensive truck but I quickly came to the conclusion that clean, rust free, non squatted and straight piped gmt800s at a price I'm willing to pay don't exist any more...

Not sure what you were wanting to pay but I’ve found a few deals but they are gone fast

Im buddies w the dude that's over one of the local water dept's,the only person he has to answer to is the BOD.They were looking for trucks a couple of years ago and wanted Chevy's.Ford undercut the Chevy's by about 4K per.Typical white.long bed sc F-150.They bought Fords instead.IMO thats why ford is the "best selling domestic truck" or whatever title they give em.They undercut everybody.

I won't spend more than $10k. Started looking at Avalanches too mainly because they are less popular and I don't really care how ugly they are.
I found a couple 4door 4x4 rust free trucks for 6500-8000 but they are typically gone in 24 hrs

My problem with the avalanches are their beds are so small I might as well get a Tahoe

Buy a v8 grand cherokee or some SUV and a small trailer for when you need to do "truck stuff"

Should be cheap and readily available, ride better, seats 4-5 plus covered locking cargo, and no weighted tag.

Miranda already has the mom car lol

Given I'm a dainty handed pencil pusher…but since having kids, on a personal basis, I can count on one of my dainty hands the number of times I’ve needed a truck to do truck things…and that’s why they’re all in storage and haven’t moved in months. The expedition (and now the navigator) has served well as ‘the truck’ when it’s not pulling commuter/kid duty.

Sorry dude but your description was just too spot on for me.
