Anyone carry a g30 I got to handle one of them today and we're nice for my hand especially if I put a +1 mag for pinky!!

The general rule of thumb used to be "Carry as big of a gun that you can, in as big of a caliber as you can handle."

The first part still applies. The second, with the awesome selection of self-defense ammo these days and modern technique being 'blast them until they stop', it doesn't really matter as much anymore.

(Thank goodness people stopped giving a damn about 'one shot stops'!)

@Atla i know what your saying, but every inch counts when youre trying to appendix carry. especially on the grip as the longer it is the more it will print when 3 to 5 o'clock. These days printing is more dangerous than extreme accuracy. For that matter, CC isnt about comp shooting. If you cant hit center mass with a sub or a 38 revolver or other snub, you really should not be CC'ing...

just my 2 cents tho

With my lower back problems I have switched from cc a glock 23 iwb in a crossbreed holster to owb in an eclipse holster. I'm not sure how the summer will go trying to conceal owb but I'm enjoying the ability to walk without a limp this winter.

Believe I'm stuck between the g26, the shield 9, and sig 365... the feel of the shield in my hand is extremely natural even on draw the angle of grip is perfect it for my line of sight!! Taking it to shoot this week gonna try to get a 26 out on the range and the sig I'll have to hunt someone down to try out bc dunno many folks carrying sigs right off top of my head!! Whichever one I choose I'll be ordering a hyve +1 mag bc so far my pinkys hanging in all of em a little bit and from my experience that's gonna affect recoil control! Well at least it does for me!

If I go .45 it's gonna be a g30 or the ria 1911 compact I do believe, but like mentioned above with ammunition that's out nowadays I'm comfortable enough with my shooting that no one will make it past A few 147g jhp! Just hope its never used but for practice tho...

Appreciate the input folks! The shield and 26 weren't even on my radar when I started looking! Glad to see the forum I'm on is so heavily armed and knowledgeable!!

If you're a fan of the 1911, I'd look at one of the many mini 1911 style guns in the market. I carry a p238. Kimber and springfield both make .380s too, and then there's the 938.

You won't be disappointed with the Shield 9. EDC is a Sig P238 due to the size (and I like that it's a micro 1911). But honestly, I prefer to shoot the Shield - great weight & feel...if it were a tad smaller I'd carry it instead.

I guess what I'm really looking for is a all around concealable pistol that I can carry winter/summer I just got my hands on a shield 9mm and it fit my hand amazing for a compact!!

That's what I carry most. I've got big hands and the 8 round mags are a good fit. If I'm not carrying the shield it's a Sig 1911 "officer" size. I tried carrying the Glock but it gets to much attention from the ladies whom I have it tucked in the waste.

The spaz in me as i wear a tinfoil hat asks, you do have the correct paper work for the can, correct?
Forgive me for being protective of the 2A.

Should have also said, I have pretty big hands and none of the polymer .380s are any fun to shoot. The p238 is comfortable.

The Only problem I see with the sig compacts are the grip size but I've not had one in hand to see for sure yet. I'll be going to gun shop this week to check out a few sigs and the g21! @LBarr2002 As much as I'd love to have a kimber I can get myself and my woman a pistol for one kimber... lol one day I may buy one but I'd probably get a Springfield before kimber unless it was pre 90s kimber! Maybe I am a brand snob!? I did switch from bfg to coppers this year so hell may switch gun brand/styles too!?? We'll see

I built all my suppressors on form 1s. It wasn't bad before Obama had the BATF change the trust rules. It used to be e-file online but now everyone has to go in to do finger prints background checks etc....even though it's already been done before. Each new item I wanna add to the trust requires requires repeat paperwork for everyone. I got all my stamps before the BATF enacted that rule.
Now it seems easier to just go to a dealer and buy it from them. I heard silencerco was trying to set up a kiosk system to get all the info entered easier. Its all a racket. Suppressors and SBRs shouldn't be a NFA items. There's a bill stalled in congress (H.R. 367 hearing protection act) that will remove suppressors from the NFA and make them a item you can purchase like a firearm. I strongly encourage anyone, that likes to shoot, to write or call their congressman and tell them you support it. Unfortunately we have a tool named Paul Ryan as speaker of the house and he's got to call it up for a vote. Sorry to go off topic, and to answer your question. Two years ago it wasn't bad and the system worked. Now? It's more complicated, at least you don't have to have your sheriff sign off on a new item.

@josh m Thanks for the info seems like a major headache but I've heard it's not that bad if atf doesn't take 8 months to get back to sot or ya dealer and they can do a lot of the bs for you!? Hell I don't think I can even get a h&k416 now that I read into it a little more I've not looked over NFA weapons restrictions so to speak since I was 19 a lot has changed... I agree a suppressor shouldn't be NFA item sbr and imo sbs shouldn't either!

No I don't think you can. We are restricted to pre 1986 full autos which are $$$$$. Unless one becomes a FFL/SOT then you can get post 86 samples, but they have to be transferred out whenever you let your License expire. If you ever do get one, I'm inviting myself up to VA to shoot it with you.
