We watched an old movie last night with him in it. Fire! (1977) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076031/) He played Sam Brisbane who matched up very nicely with Vera Miles. FWIW, these stars were young when I first started watching them!

Mchale's Navy is classic! Also remember him from the original Posiden Adventure and Airwolf, but Mchale's Navy was my favorite.

The Wild Bunch is one of my all-time favorites. He made so many pictures and played the good guy or bad guy with a smile that will never be forgotten.
