On a related note... I love how after you've had a vehicle a long time, the stack of stickers on the plate gets to be able an inch thick... you could probably break then whole bunch off in a chunk, lol.

That is unless you're one of those pretty boys that actually take the time to peel off the old one.

you're supposed to peel the old ones off.

Then you can just peel back down to next year's color.

yeah, sure you are.
Just like you're only supposed to eat so much sodium and fat every day, and record all of you out-of-state purchases and pay state sales tax on them when you file in April...

All my cars registrations expire in Jan. Invariably I find myself hastily slapping that thing on there at the last minute when it is butt-funky cold and I'm already late to go somewhere. Making a license plate look pretty is the last darn thing I'm worried about.

Yeah when I was younger and had shitpiles of time, I'd scrape it and clean the plate while I was at it. Fawk that.

I like Buckeye's idea!

I didn't say I did it either. I'll rip off the stack when it starts getting loose. I have had one come off in the past when it was 10+ deep.

An yesterday I find my wife's car( registration renewed 2 months ago) had the paperwork AND STICKER in the glove box. WTF.
I'm paranoid as hell driving when I don't have up to date tags.

Checked the tag on my Lincoln just because of this thread...apparently I expire this month. Have no idea where the tax form is...lost in the move or sent to he old address I reckon.

I usually dont even put the new sticker on. Just leave it on the registration in the glove box.

I used to be paranoid about my tags. But when I was getting my Taco tagged for the first time, it wouldn't pass inspection because the battery had been unhooked. I ended up putting a few hundred miles on it with no tag at all before I made my way back to the inspection station. Now I could care less. Ask yourself a couple of questions: 1) how many miles a year do you drive? 2) how many of those miles is there a cop behind you? My answers are about 30,000 over Zero.

I had a guy I stopped explain why he didn't care about his tags. It actually made a lot of sense. His tags were a few years behind. He said that he could pay to get his car registered($28), tax($?), inspected ($33) ect every year, or just wait till he gets a ticket and pay the $160 or whatever it is. He then said who do you think is ahead? It actually made sense if you don't mind paying a ticket every now and then. Now I'm not saying this is what I would do, but he had a point.

A BETTER question is, Is he Insured?

inspections are the worst. I loved it when NC went to the yellow sticker with a date punched in it instead of the giant number stickers. Now that it is tied to the registration, my hand is forced. LOL.

I put the new sticker on top of the old one until the stack gets a little thick and suspect looking, then rip off the stack and start over.

My wife has gotten ticketed twice for out of date registration/tags. I think the cops in Winston Salem love to pull for that fault. I think it was over $200 both times.

They are stringent about it up here. I got a ticket for mine being expired by 9 days. On my birthday. I had no clue.
In MD it's good for 2 years... which I have found actually makes it harder to remember to do.

I've got a buddy of mines jeep here at the house and got a good chuckle when I saw his tag. Note the year was '04 and he tried to turn it into an '08

I don't like having an illegal vehicle. It only gives LEO's a reason to pull you, then it's open season to whatever else they want to give you a hard time about. I support law enforcement and their actions, but being in a hobby that modifies vehicles, some which stretch the law, I rather not give them a reason to pull me over and inspect the vehicle a bit closer. DOT tires, lights, bumper heights, tint, ect.

That being said, I usually walk around my vehicle every few days to make sure everything is in working order, and before every drive with a trailer in tow.

I'm not a drunkard or drug user, just stating the obvious with modified vehicles.

Why not take the two seconds it requires to put it on the tag? I'd think it would be better than spending any amount of time pulled over on the side of the road by the cops. I mean... if convicted, it's a misdemeanor offense, not just an infraction (like many speeding tickets are).

Plus, you can be stopped as many times as you operate the vehicle with the tag in that status. Court costs the way they are, it's about $200.00 a ticket. Then you've got to pay those, plus the amount you would've paid anyway to bring the vehicle into compliance.

You must not enjoy life if you ride around and are looking if other people's tags are out of date.

Y'all want officers at Uwharrie then cry when they hand out tickets for stupid shit left and right.

Breathe in and chill out. Worry about your own life and property.

To hope there is more traffic enforcement is the most laughable thing I've seen on this board.
