13 mpg on flat ground? What is the unloaded like? I really thought the ten speed might save you 1-2mpg
Shit my 5.4 f150 gets 13 unloaded downhill, I was impressed13 mpg on flat ground? What is the unloaded like? I really thought the ten speed might save you 1-2mpg
It was more like 13.5 empty loaded was about 12.5. I was pleased. It didn’t hunt gears like some are reporting. Still early. Still hard to keep my foot out of it.13 mpg on flat ground? What is the unloaded like? I really thought the ten speed might save you 1-2mpg

Is that the 8.1 truck?Shoot my truck gets 12 empty and just under 7mpg pulling my crawler hauler, plus 2-3qts of oil. It’s like towing with a 2 stroke. I’d take 12/13 all day long.
Is that the 8.1 truck?
You and me both!!! I will say I think the biggest log was 2k or more. I’m thinking it had a good 5k on it. Need to take a trip with the Jeep. Anyone have anything coming up?I’m still waiting for you to tow your Jeep (a known load) somewhere you’ve been before and get a real comparison.
Thanks for the real world feedback Glenn!Ok so another update with what I’ve learned. At around 1500 miles the computer mileage went up above 14. I filled up last Thursday:

Hand calc'd is was closer to 14. It was a mix of back roads to the shop and interstate home and around town. I have noticed the motor gets its best economy around 1500 rpm. Oh yea so this truck has an econ mode. Who knew? If you get above 2K rpm it drops to below 14. If you mash it and let it scream it gets a lot less..... I had a trip planned to tow the little Civic to Andy this weekend but it will get postponed a week. If I had a 2 car trailer I'd be tempted to drag the jeep too and hit up Beasly Knob.
Did you rent that out on the I-20 frontage road, or at the Camden rental?Well I could tell that was back there.

probably easier to get more tongue weight since most of the weight is on the frame and body. How cone everybody loads them backwards?
CCE. THe one on the I-20 frontage rd. $425 out the door for the weekend with trailer.Did you rent that out on the I-20 frontage road, or at the Camden rental?
I just picked it up they loaded it......How cone everybody loads them backwards?
Short trailer folks gotta do short trailer things...It was just weird...I never loaded mine backwards. I guess it was easier with a long gooseneck trailer.
Seems to get roughly what my old 460 F350 4x4 and V10 F250 4x4 got. Big gas engines like fuel but I love em.Saturday I went to Hayesville, NC to see Andy @ironman deliver the beater Honda and to acquire some parts for the race Jeep. First long tow and first time in the mountains.

11.1 loaded up and 12.5 empty on the way back. As promised this update is not all good. AC quit blowing cold on the way to Hartsville today. 3700 miles currently.
