We used to buy them at auction for $25.00 each and we would buy several at a time and bring them home and bolt a fender or bumper and sell them for $1800.00 and they would be a new car. People bought them about as fast as we could get them. That last one we had we put it on our junk yard pole and it still ran and drove . we took it down after 5 years and sold the motor out of it and put it back up on the sign.recall a chrysler dealership in greenville, sc was giving a free yugo with each new vehicle purchase

In about 90/91 a guy I went to HS with had one just like that w four 12 inch Cerwin Vega's in the back of it,a Apline cassette player and cd changer and a bunch of other stuff. The stereo was worth about 10 times what the car was.Come to find out one of our teachers lived down the road from him and she had ordered new checks from the bank.He stole em out of her mail box and bought all the stereo with her checks.Around 3K IIRC.That MF was $3995 new![]()
I was in an old closed junkyard last summer that still had a couple of those motors in inventory.Along w some fiero motors and a Ford EXP motor. We used to buy them at auction for $25.00 each and we would buy several at a time and bring them home and bolt a fender or bumper and sell them for $1800.00 and they would be a new car. I was in the parts dept at a Dodge dealership one time and they had a sign on the counter that said"All Yugo parts are 90% off"That would have been in the early 90's.recall a chrysler dealership in greenville, sc was giving a free yugo with each new vehicle purchase
The Yugo's were drive till they broke down and leave it where it stopped and move to your next ride a tow truck. lol.I was in an old closed junkyard last summer that still had a couple of those motors in inventory.Along w some fiero motors and a Ford EXP motor.
So never put more than a 1/4 tank of gas in em??The Yugo's were drive till they broke down and leave it where it stopped and move to your next ride a tow truck. lol.
a 1/4 tank of fuel in one of them was about 3 gallon of gas then. I never have seen one wear out a set of tires. So never put more than a 1/4 tank of gas in em??
The multi-tops part is really cool and very indicative of the time.I want this. Reminds me of Inspector Gadget’s vehicle that transformed from a van to a car.
