FB MP finds of the day.

Cost and because sawmills use lube on the blades to keep the blade clean of sap. Band saws are typically used on dry wood and lube isn’t needed. I’m guessing metal on metal with lube isn’t ideal.

And really, who cares about using the V belt on the wheel. They are cheap and easy to replace when needed.

One thing I hate about my mill is the 7” throat. That means I can’t make an 8” deep cut. If I have a 16” square cant, I can’t cut it into four 8x8 beams. That’s my biggest gripe. But there are DIY mods to make it work, I just hate cutting on a new ish saw.
Cooks makes a surface ground crowned wheel for the band wheels. Zero rubber contact and they run coolant ranging from water to mixes and diesel fuel. Everyone else runs a rubber band. I found a diy company who remarkets Cooks band wheels and the diy builds I follow run them. The rubber bands are another wear item and can create issues with buildup if not maintained.
Edit: tension is less straightforward forward running the v belts rubbers as well.....that and the known production differences in the spring cone washers Woodland has used. Half of Wich is probably folks with zero mechanical experience. 😎

Your truck uses a V belt and lasts quite a long time before needing replacement. Why would it be an issue on a bandsaw mill?

I have quite a few hours on mine and haven’t experienced any of the “issues” some people are reporting. Issues are usually due to other things causing belt failure. We don’t complain about V belts when our alternator locks up and burns the V belt up. No reason to complain about them on sawmills. If you don’t like the V belts, there are some companies that use trailer tires instead. :)

I think most that have issues with the V belts are inexperienced Folks that probably have no real business running a sawmill and maintaining it. I’ve never had an issue with band tension. I never loosen my band. I tighten mine by feel; not by their photo diagram and certainly not by the torque method. I feel it and understand when it needs to be tightened up a little and do it as needed, when needed. Hasn’t failed me yet and when my band is sharp, it cuts straight as can be.

If this is 4wd and 4 door I'd love to have it.

Why do I want this so bad?!

I've seen one every so often between Knightdale and Wendell. Looks pretty fun and kinda safe-ish lol.

According to my wife it's because I'm stupid!

I don't understand the inclusion of the Amazon ad. are they saying they are a better deal, or its the same guy? Unless you buy the bulk, the per-unit price is more expensive.
I can also supply these if anyone needs. And I assume @Danger_Ranger can too. Most any local species or thickness you can think of.
Its just a matter of finding the guy with the need.

wife grew up in Southern Pines. when we moved up here she was baffled that people buy piles of fallen red pine needles for crafts and stuff when they were constantly getting rid of it.

She obviously didn’t get paid by Hose-a and Hose-b to come gather them and sell them on for landscape. Best thing about living down here and all the G-D pine trees lol

Let someone else do the raking!

I saw a video somewhere one time where they were literally using a hay baler to bail pine needles,no hand raking involved.
