Do you pay taxes?

Yes.

Do you deserve help?

Yes.

Do you think, "Ah, I don't need to do that free loading welfare shit."

Wrong. You do.

You've paid taxes your entire life. You've funded entire generations of foreign country populaces. You've funded immensely stupid crap with your hard earned monies.

It's time that the system benefits you in your time of need.

Look at this.

Now go here.

I'm serious. Fill it out. It takes about 5 minutes.

Get you a generator. Get you some gas money. Get you some food, supplies, or medicines. Get some help removing trees off your house, property, or fixing your road or whatever other things are going on.

Be open minded.

Did trees fall on your property? Yes? Did you want them to fall? No. Did the Hurricane do it? Yes. Get money to cover having them removed.
Did you have to throw out an entire fridge full of rotting food because of no power? Yes. Get reimbursed.
Did several square feet of your perfectly manicured, well tended, beautiful yard flood and turn into a sea of brown sludgish crap? Yes? Get it fixed.
Were you without power for several days and fear that the next rain storm may knock your power out again and you need a generator? Yes. Get you one.
Did you spend time, money, energy on helping other people out by buying them groceries, fetching them propane, picking up their meds, cutting down trees with your gas and wearing down your saw blades? Yes. Get you reimbursement.

Don't be a fudd. Don't be all, "I ain't takin' no handouts."

Bitch, you'd best. Because you're entire life people have taken YOUR handouts that YOU did not give to them.

I'm not going to go into justification, just facts here.

Justification is between God, FEMA, and your conscious.

I was just approved for a $750 immediate emergency relief payment, direct deposit.

ASSISTANCE APPROVED
Your application is approved for a total of $750.00:
The U.S. Department of the Treasury will either mail you a check or deposit the funds into your account, based on
the preference you selected.

Approved - Money to Help Pay for Emergency Needs
Your application has been approved for $750.00. This money is meant to help pay for immediate
disaster expenses for sheltering, evacuation, and meeting basic household needs. The money may be
used for items like food, water, infant formula, breastfeeding equipment, diapers, hygiene products, and
other basic needs. The amount of money FEMA can provide is limited. We understand this amount
may not cover all the costs of your disaster-caused immediate and serious needs. This money is meant
to help you get started with your recovery.

I filed yesterday.

And somehow this doesn’t even surprise me based on govcos ability to discern candidates. The irony is strong with this one.

I just spent around 25 minutes, looking to see how to get money to remove a downed tree. I'm not a Business, my home is not damaged, I don't grow an orchard, or a tree farm. I Didn't find a Thing. I do give up easy!

Unless it's hit your house and caused more than $500 to the house, you're on your own unfortunately. And that's just homeowners insurance. Not even FEMA

This thread makes me sad.

Tangentially reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by Augustine of Hippo
"Right is right, even if done by none; wrong is wrong even if done by all"

Guess I won't apply for assistance where I had to buy more grass seed due to all the flooding in my yard.
Thanks Saint Augustine for keeping me on the straight and narrow,

I know Very well Homeowners doesn't cover tree removal, wasn't looking to cheat anyone, but Atla made it seem like they were just Giving away money, for trees & property damage! Figured it was worth a try! :(

I’ve always just been a bigger believer in self-reliance and philanthropy than government handouts.
Ideally, your community ( "the church" if you will) SHOULD be taking care of one another, and not NEED the government. But that's not how things work any more. We're too consumed with getting everything WE want, and not what our neighbors NEED. So just like when the people cried "we need a king" (no you don't) we cried "we need a government" and we've become so reliant on it that we can't even exist without it. And soon, Blackrock will ensure we don't by buying up every home in america

OUCH!!! I think I may have cut myself on the band to my tinfoil hat with that last one.

Well the problem is we want return from our taxes. We pay in for hopes that it goes to the right things. But we know better. Fortunately everyone is pitching in and doing what they can like we should. But we paid our taxes just to dig into our own pockets to help.

So glad to see someone quoting 2nd Sam Chpt 8. So few understand this.

O, you saw that short reel too!

You know, I toyed with the idea of collecting on this deal. I could certainly use the extra money with all thats happened, and a new generator would be great. But... I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm staunchly against government handouts in all but the most extreme cases. I believe the community should take care of their own and their neighbors (we have in this case). Ad Aaron Tippin says, "you've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anythang". Maybe I'm standing for a lost or foolish principle, but at least I'm standing I guess.

There is ALWAYS fine print
Loss of freedom and inalienable rights (in exchange for "civil rights") always happens through APPLICATION
It would behoove people to read the fine print with FEMA if you apply for their "Gifts" and "Assistance".

Fun fact. When we had the 1K year flood here in SC, in 2014?, wife lost her entire finished basement. I had to remove the carpet on the floor and the paneling on the walls. No flood insurance so the insurance people told her to contact FEMA since it was a natural disaster. They came did an inspection and said she qualified. They sent her $250.
