Well, I'm officially an addict.

I just picked this gem up for a whopping $300. The guy I got it from was just about to take it to the scrap yard. I couldn't let it happen. 345 runs, Eaton Positraction rearend, I-beam front axle, very little rust.

My plans are to clean it up, get the engine running and tuned, freshen up the transmission, address the little bit of rust, make sure all the electricals are good, convert it to 4wd and run 36's.

I plan to do exactly what I did to my C1300. I will use Ford axles and transfercase from an early to mid 70's F250. It was such an easy swap that I can't wait to get started.

On to the pics;

This may take a awhile as I work out of town all week and will be for the next 2 years at least. I'll try my best to have it road ready quickly.

Damn freaking sweet! Nice truck too...

tone & a cummins 12 valve!

Ron, that is a cool looking pair! Really digging on the tow truck! Have you seen John Wayne's "War Wagon" Travelall thats for sale on ebay? It was his hunting/safari rig built out of one of those. Its pretty bad ass for its day. Also, If you arent already on there, "Binder Planet" is a great forum for all things International. Lots of travelall builds on there.

Bet a few people did a double take seeing that tow rig and towed rig driving around.

It has been loaded since Tuesday and yes people have been gauking like crazy. Funny thing is I work in Pinehurst which is a high end community so it sticks out like a sore thumb. The locals actually appreciate it.

Didn't know that was up for sale. I love that thing. Also, I am familiar with the Binder Planet. That's a good site.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Thanks alot guys.

Today was pretty good.

I first tried to fire the engine. The starter worked good but the water pump was siezed so the belts had to be removed. I poured some gas down the carb and after a bit of cranking it fired off. It was actually pretty good. Oil pressure was very good as was the oil color, it was very clean.

I fooled around with the electricals to see what works and what doesn't. The horn, tail lights, turn signals/ hazards all work. I tried the rear power window with no luck. Didn't try the wipers as they have no blades and there are no scratches on the windows yet. The blower motor didn't work because the fuse was missing.

The master cylinder is froze so no brakes.

I then pressure washed the exterior and underneath. Big difference.

As for rust, the floors, fenders, inner fenders, grill shell and the main shell have no rust. All 4 doors and the tailgate have rust through. The seat riser is rusty as is the cowl vent area like they all are.

I may start ordering the normal replacement parts like the water and fuel pump, points and condensor, cap and rotor, coil, carb rebuild kit and go from there.

Nice... what you end up doing on this one?

I have to say thanks for saving such a unique vehicle from the scrapper. I love the job you did on the truck!
