Well here is my try at making a front bumper for my 78 Bronco

It's made from 3/8" plate :D
(it's what I had kicking around)

I just added the D-Shackle mounts today
3/4 welded from the front and rear

I cut some 1/4" thick 2x4 C-channel for the braskets to mount it to the frame.
I need to weld those on tomorrow and cap the ends..

Then it's time to clean it up and make it pretty.

I hope to mount it Sat.

I might need new front springs when I drop this thing on the nose

What do you guys think?

Gorgeous, just gorgeous...I wish I had the tools but a man can only dream. You know I would trade my job to be able to work in a shop like that anyday.

I just made one out of 3/16th and it weighed in about 80 lbs. So your 3/8 is gonna be on up there.

Look nice- needs a winch mount! I hope the shackle points are attached directly to the frame mounts...

I threw it on the scale yesterday with the brackets, and D-shackels and all, and it weighed in at just under 110 lbs.

Like I said, I made it out of 3/8" because that's what was free... and it didn't look that thick when I started

Mine might weigh less than some of yours even though I am twice as thick because it's only 60" wide.. 5" deep, the flat front is 5" tall, and around 8" tall overall (that's another 5" wide piece I have on the bottom)

60" brings it right out to the middle of the directionals, and It's only 60" wide because I plan on narrowing the front of the truck to match like the one below

here is a quick chop of my bumper on OX1s Bronco and it is to scale, so you can get a feel for the size
