GenRight is building a brand new Ultra4 car!

I have some. Whats the wheel base, and the front and rear wheel travel. What spec shocks did King suggest for the build, and what type of races will it be engineered for other than King of the Hammers.

What was considered to be changed on the old car that that justified building a new one looking at the cost and time on the new project, and why.

The chassis is still on the computer screen at this point and they are just starting to work with King on the shocks so no specifics yet. Typically, Tony's focus is KoH. In the past if he's done well, he's run some other Ultra4 races, but it built for The Hammers.

The old car had been run for a few years and they had several things they thought they could improve. The old car was wrecked earlier in the year and the decision was made to replace rather than rebuild. Tony got 2nd last year so he just needs another 15 minutes or so for a first place. ;)

What are the geometry numbers for both the front and rear suspension setups. Anti squat, roll axis angle, instant centers? How much travel front and rear? How much pinion change throughout the suspension travel?

I'm curious how the new setup compares to what the majority of people are running on trail rigs?

Are the shocks mounting to the links like a trailing arm setup? What is ratio of wheel travel to shock travel and how does that affect the spring rate?

This is in tech, so let's see some tech info for everyone out in tv land.

I apologize. I didn't get a notification of your earlier post. I love the Bueller reference!

So there's 3 things working against us here.

1) They are thrashing away trying to get it ready for Off Road Expo and SEMA, So the design isn't 100% and even if it was I can't get them to stop long enough to answer questions for me.

2) Historically, Tony has not been keen on sharing the details of the car. Sure, it's straight axle, V8, 2 seater, etc but he's not going to give the exact recipe so someone can order a pile of tube and reproduce it.

3) I can't remember number 3. I need caffeine.

We just have to wait for more video and pics. I have to deal with this all the time! Cool stuff is going on, but I can't get details and images..................

Sorry Mac, I know that wasn't the answer you were looking for.

You posted this in tech, there was no tech in the video, only sponsor ads.

1) even if someone has the a/s, the a/d, the instant centers, the travel numbers, that is not the recipe without link locations.

2) even with the above numbers, a competitor would need to have the exact same setup, chassis, cog, to be a threat to your design.

3) if you are not going to post tech, then move this to vendor special and free this section for actual tech

Nothing against pimping your brand as a vendor, but this thread isn't tech, yet,

I think as brand, you could potentially earn better customer loyalty by posting up tech info on the build, instead of just saying how it's going to be awesome because you are putting all the same parts, that every other competitor is using.

But, you're the businessman, not I.

Nothing personal, just post tech or move the thread elsewhere. For example you could set an example by posting all the tech numbers, so that the trail guys can understand the differences between and ultra4 car, a desert truck, and a rock buggy, instead of worrying about giving away secrets to winning. I thought superior driving and getting the parts to last wins races, not the geometry numbers. But, I'm not a racer, so what do I know.

No other competitors are posting those numbers, but then again I don't see this section filled with their new race car build threads either.

What are Better suited questions to ask, bc apparently mine suck?

How much is the genright fuel cell going in it?

Build threads are a sub section of tech so either way IMO add tech or move/delete this thread. Vendor specials would be a great place.

However, Adding tech to this thread would give some personality to a vendor account that appears to just be pimping in other sections to get more views.

Mac,

You seem to have real issue with this thread. You could just not look at it if it bothers you so much. That's pretty easy and would save us both some time.

I acknowledged it doesn't belong here, but as far as I know a Moderator would need to move it. This forum uses some software that's different than most and I don't see a way to move it.

I never said your questions suck, but I did respond very clearly as to why they couldn't be answered right now and perhaps ever. They're good questions though.

For some reason you're being antagonistic towards GenRight and making this out like the video is a giant ad. There are slides at the END of the video for most of our sponsors, but Tony doesn't mention any sponsors in the live part of the video. He introduces the new build we're doing. It's not done. More info will come.

We heard you the first time. If you're still unhappy, then report the thread and let a moderator make the call. Or ask Sean if you can be a moderator.

Vendors pimp. That's what we do. That's what we pay for on forums. It's how this works. I would say this thread is far from the worst. We introduced a build. If you're not interested, don't click on it.

Nothing personal. Have a great day. I'll see you out on the trail!

You asked for questions, yet did not answer them, and explained why.

You said it was posted in build threads and it's not.

I agree, vendors pimp stuff, that's why you guys pay more for yellow star. However this is tech and not for sale or vendor specials. That's why those areas are separate. I said my piece, and asked you to add tech or delete and or move.

I was just giving you a chance to fix the thread before taking it to a moderator. Wanted to give you an opportunity to take care of it yourself.

As stated before my problem is that an out of the area vendor, is posting a pimp thread in the tech section, with no tech. It's fine if you want to share some cutting edge tech all while pimping your products in a tech section, but keep the advertising to the vendor areas.

As far as the video, there's no tech in it, followed by the slide show of the sponsoring companies. Might as well be a commercial break.

Have a good one.

it was in the build thread and I moved it because there was no build.. just a video saying hey look at me and what I plan to do.. if there was actually build stuff in it I would have left it..

so now I have moved it to vendor referral section due to it still is not a build thread.

if you want to know what a build thread is read this:
http://www.nc4x4.com/forum/index.php?threads/what-is-a-build.43492/

Pending potential updates, I thought Build Threads was an ok place for it, which is why I moved it there. Maybe it is more 'promotional' in nature and should be in Chit Chat? I'd be interested to see where the build goes.

LOL!

bored...got short timer's illness today.

Leaving for Dixie Run in the morning!

I'm busting my hump trying to get ready for a trip to The Cove tomorrow and my computer keeps making noise. I'm addicted. I have to check to see what happened.............
