Got the short course racing itch?...

Just read the whole thread... 5k would be very competitive... I feel like you could build a shit box competitor for about 2500. Looks like a ton of fun that I just can't afford right now

I'm still lurking. Haven't talked to Scott recently. Just been busy here lately with work. Trying to get one race car (Ultra4 in Arkansas next month) before I start messing with another one.

I think you are forgetting shocks

What kind of shocks are we thinking about? I saw talk about using a spec shock, and I think that's a great thing to do. Has there been any talk about what kind though?

Well the rules no 1 per corner
Remote Resi is Ok no bypass
up to 2-5/8 in diameter.
Upper mount location may be moved so long as it doesnt protrude through hood.

So...Id expect...

Assuming we see woops and washes shock will play a larger roll in who is fatsest est than any other single factor.

I am actually biting my tongue here because I see quite a loophole here regarding ride height...

Not really. Can't modify the arms or the mounts. That gives you a little flexibility in ride height, but not much.

Did you ever ask how much you could raise the hood to cover the tops of the shocks?

Even using cheap AZ shocks... unless you can do all the fabrication yourself, getting everything done for 2500 when you really add up everything is a stretch. A lot of folks can not/should not make their own cage. Plus fuel cell, sets, harnesses... it all adds up.

Shocks were the biggest thing, I agree... But depending on deals you can hunt down I think you could put together a truck pretty cheap.

I figure tubing wise you would need about 3 sticks of 1.75x .120 (Might even run the 1.5 OD tube if possible to save a little space inside., thats between 400-450 depending on where you get it. Labor would add a good deal of money, but that's what sponsors and friends are for... I was quoted once 13.50 a foot installed by a vendor on this site, but that has been a while ago... figure 60 x 13.50 = 810 for the cage installed (Roughly)
Trucks seem to be easy to find for about 800 bucks, spent a few hundred on repairs and service... $1200. So $2000 in a truck with a cage... Fuel cell, shocks, seats/harness/tires and probably a big E fan.

2500 may be a little off... but 5000 gives a pretty great budget unless you get into motor building.

given the questions I received from ECORS racers about rules (both black and white as well as gray), I guarantee yall haven't even scratched the surface of the "gray" areas yet and there are many, many more "piles" (as Dylan says) than you can see  :D

Year 1 was pretty loose, by year 4, rules were put in place and worded to eliminate or reduce gray areas and I expect this will be the same.

But ya gotta admit, by only using 1 kind of truck...It simplifies the entire equation.

I'm going to build my truck according to the rules that are laid out, and hopefully, I'll have some others nearby that want to do the same thing and have some real, solid, fart in your pants kinda fun. :driver:

you are full of :poop: if you think anyone believes that!!! :p

Hope to prove ya wrong on that.

My build will be an open book. Going to try to lead by example with a very transparent build.
Right now, there are a few contemplaters,a few wait and see'ers, and a couple probably's along with several for sures...Last thing I want to do is scare anyone off by building anything questionable. It will be no fun if I have no one to race.

I'm sold on this noble idea and hope to make it a reality by completely conforming to the rules. Just watch.

I wanna have fun and learn to drive better and get some ''rush'' out of it!

I Re-read the hood rule. it says stock location AND cant be lowered...killed one idea.

Upper mounts can be moved wherever re -read...

@Dylan W. @shawn

I think yall have heard me say EXACTLY this...
and I have not talked to Rob in like 3 weeks.

I really think you guys have too much faith in other racers.
Those sneaky, dirty ideas you have had in your bed at night..or on the john about how to cheat and win...every other racer has had them and half have asked explicitly if they could do it.

I'm not talking about shock mounts. Talking about pivot and radius arm brackets.

And where is wheel base addressed?

I have faith in the mission statement and idea of the bro lite class.

Just follow the rules as intended and go play! Keep your cost under 5 g's and don't cheat...Lets just go have some fun and put on one helluva show.
That's what it should be about. If we want to build a 'race' rig, there's plenty of other classes/divisions for that. This should be all about fun, not necessarily who can build the biggest baddest fastest rig. JMO
