Gravel/Crusher Run

Getting ABC packed soon after laying it down is key. Last building we build had 4' abc before the concrete that they packed with the vibrating roller and holy crap was it beautiful and hard. Every year we top our yard with 10 or so loads of ABC to fill in holes. We use abc bc of cost and the fact that we have heavy tractor trailer traffic and they pulverize everything you put down.

I'll be putting in a 200yds driveway in a few months around a field to our to be built house. I have a guy that brings in cheap rocky/sandy river dirt that packs in hard as abc but isn't as pretty. I'll be doing my first layer as that for the construction traffic and then topping with another layer of rocky dirt then abc as the final layer. Wash stone is too expensive for how long of a driveway I'll be doing. I don't care about dust. We live in the country, we can deal with it.

The only part of your driveway that has any significant slope washes out when it rains? That's weird. :flipoff2:
I thought about clarifying that point, then I thought "the only person who would bring it up is Shawn", then I thought "F-it, he will argue with me about nothing so I might as well leave him some bait" :flipoff2::lol:

I just had 40 tons of ABC ("357's) dropped on top an existing 1100' driveway (just the tracks) and full width in an expanded parking area... $24/ton
The dust isn't bad, but the cinders splattering up on everything parked on it is a total PITA.

Now that it's down and the "base" is somewhat packed...
the plan is that my neighbor with both a high-end scrape blade and very elaborate land plane ("rock fluffer" with full hydraulic control of blade angles/skew/heights) will do some leveling in the parking area and pull the excess ABC further down the drive/fill in some low spots further down.
Then the parking area and first 100' of drive by the house will get a fresh layer of washed "57's"

Well, it depends. From what I recall, you're cutting a road (or improving an existing forest road) that runs through a wooded area and over a culvert..

Yup

There's traces of a gravel being put down maybe a decade ago....but haven't dug down to see

There is ONE area that stays wet....I'm thinking there's a spring of some kind in that area.....might be best to do a few tons of #4 before ABC....but I'd have to go take a facebook poop to really know what I was talking about

And this was the first load (16 tons of ABC-M) at +/-3" after I ran over it 100 times with the tractor waiting for the second load

Is that more or less your total coverage as shown in the photo?

Everything on the flat grade

I ordered 60 tons, and THOUGHT I got 60 tons when I made the video, but it came out to be 55, and I was only charged for 55 (found that out yesterday when the check cleared)
