Hacking a Jeep

as much as the push all the new Chevy with wifi this was the first thing I told my wife.. the cars will be hacked and also tracked by big brother

I fail to see why automakers need to have brakes/steering/etc that is in the same system as the entertainment center. That just seems short sighted to me.
Because vehicles have ABS/ESP/ASR that are all interactive with a CPU to keep everyone safe, and in order for them to do their jobs, they have to have a computer link. Back in the olden days, there were standalone modules that did an ok job, but did not offer the smoothness and fast reaction that a larger linked system can offer. Just think about memory seats and what it takes to have the button on your remote tell the seat where to go so that it's in the right place when you get in the car.

Right, but why does that system have to have any link to a system with connectivity outside of the vehicle? I mean, we have been able to "hack" cars from sitting in the seat ever since they put computers in there, just through the OBD port. Putting all those controls into a system with wireless connectivity seems like a bad idea, and short sighted. That's what I meant.

10-4, and I agree. It's not like its magic wifi that operates without a data plan anyway. So why pay for 2 data plans?

No more police chases. they just shut you down and lock the doors lol.... fuckers.....

Also a great reason to have an old truck for bug-outs or survival situations

That's why I'm trying to keep my jeep as dumb as possible for as long as possible. Carb and hei. Eventually I will upgrade to TBI but that's another time...

You can "hack" an old Toyota w/ a screwdriver.
But at least you gotta be there in person...

My old wagoneer could be started with any GM key... Even an uncut one. Pretty much any key that would fit into the ignition switch. I think I even used my house key a time or two....

Or do this....
