Ham Operators, Check In

Im looking at the yaesu multi mode hf/vhf/hf transceivers that offer both dx and analog. The price is ok.

What are y’all’s thoughts?

Specifically looking at the yaesu ft-991a

The 991a is a great rig. But my advice is start small and used. Rigs tend to hold value at a certain point. I gave 600 for my FT-857D, and could sell it today for not much loss and possibly a profit.

The do-all rigs are nice but there's a lot there to figure out as well.

Thanks, i appreciate the 2 cents.
Just an FYI - I walked the "fixer upper" and "used but still good" road for many many years of life. At this point in my life, for the sake of my very very limited time - I always buy new. My jaded sense of the world has grown to buying used as "buying someone else's problems". Lol

I ordered the Yaesu ft991a, a Diamond x300a, and a Comet 250hd

Fair enough! You won't be disappointed.

I hope not too disappointed with the HF antenna selection
Imo, building them is half the fun. Buy some so-239 connectors and speaker wire and start making dipoles. It's really simple and cheap, at least to start lol.
