Harlan Thieves

I bet to some of them our rigs must look like pill bottles from Heaven.

Imagine throwing a bunch of fake Oxycotin at them where they congregate at night. Mardi Gras for pillpoppers.

And let it be cyanide..

Don't leave ANYTHING unlocked that you want to be there when you get back!

John, I'm concerned about leaving Semi there all day while we ride. Chip said: "put a chain around her neck and a padlock." I said: "if anyone wanted her they could just cut the chain." I can buy more ratchet straps but, as you know, I will never be able to find another Semi! She will stay with Chip's daughter for the Trailfest.

I know it probably won't happen but, I will not take any chances.

Have one of your straps laid out carelessly on the ground with a small string attached to the end, slightly covered over in leaves, through a simple pulley system, attached to the trigger of something like this...

I love riding with my doors off but hate even going in the store now without them on. Theives these days have gotten alot more stealthy. Heck i have heard of people getting their doors stolen. I used to pull up to the gas station and leave my car running with the doors off (only in my hometown) but since my friends car got stolen doing that i figured it was asking for trouble. i paid around 600 to have a top of the line alarm system installed, with the spare hidden battery in case they disconnected it, ignition lockout if hotwired, proximity sensor, power locks, the works. I had it parked outside my house in the driveway, ran inside to pee. Didnt lock it, i was inside for 15 mins tops, came back to find my seats moved forward, CDs stolen, radar detector still there but the power cord snapped from them pulling on it, CD player still there, and they took a spare key i had hidden behind the glove box. They didnt even take all my CDs, just a couple of cases. The point being, they arent selective on what they steal. They will grab whatever, cause pawn shops usually accept......whatever.

A little overboard, eh? I don't even bother locking my doors, when they're on. I don't keep ANYTHING of value in my jeep. It's a soft top, if someone wants in, they're getting in. My idea is, don't leave anything in the jeep that you'll miss when you come back to it. Hell, it's sitting in my work's employee lot right now (in Charlotte) with the doors unlocked. I've even forgotten and left my keys in it. I wasn't really worried when I found out the next morning, cause there is no way in hell anyone could figure out how to start it without going through "the steps".
