I know it has been asked before, but I need some help.
Getting married in early April and need to go ahead and book a honeymoon.
Budget: approximately $3000 for everything... airfare, food, etc.

Must be somewhat romantic and somewhat adventurous.
We had our minds on the west. (Montana, Colorado, etc.)
But romantic resorts out west are pretty pricey.
We like cabins and cool mountain mornings.
Hot tubs are a plus...
We went to school in Boone so we love the outdoors.

She likes tropical all inclusive stuff too, but we (I) really want to be a little different and she's cool with that.

Try to be as specific
As you can.
Name the resort or hotel etc. if you can.

Thanks

Throw your tent and a double sleeping bag in the back of that YJ and point it toward Moab. That's what we did.

If I were you, I'd postpone the honeymoon until late September, though. Better weather then.

you've got a truck camper? Bam done. drive out and hit up every park you want to see. you could see 3-4 parks and could take a longer honeymoon because camping is going to be cheaper than a hotel resort.

BONUS ROUND - if you can make it two weeks in a truck camper marriage will be easy.

Here’s my vote

Hot Springs Log Cabins - NC Mountain Cabin Rentals

Hot tubs on the porches with scenic overlooks.

But for what it’s worth, me and my wife went to Harlan in my TJ with another couple and wheeled in the rain for 4 days for our honeymoon! Haha!

We flew out to Montana and went to Glacier Nat'l Park and Yellowstone for our honeymoon. We bounced all around Montana and a little of Wyoming. We went the second week of October and it was a few weeks too late to see the real good stuff in Glacier. They had already closed Going to the Sun road due to snow. That was a bummer but the rest of the trip was awesome. I rented a few places ahead of time and left a few flex days in so we could stay where ever the mood struck us. We had a blast. I don't like relaxing so we stayed on the go the whole time we weren't errr... doing honeymoon stuff....

So many people blow all that money to lay on the beach on an island just to look at the same Atlantic Ocean we have off NC. F that. If I'm dropping a boat load of cash I want to see and do stuff. I can get hammered on the beach any ol time

1st question: Is she a princess?

Reason I ask: "princesses" will typically consider anything less than 900 thread count sheets as "roughing it"

You mention resorts, so I assume maybe a little of a princess? She went to Boone, so she might not be a "total Diva" type princess, but how close to tent camping is she? (just getting an idea to know what to suggest)

See this is almost always a hind-sight realization. Knowing what we know now, my wife and I wouldn't have done the whole "all-inclusive" thing and flew to Moab and rented a Rubicon for 4 days, but we didn't know what we didn't know.

I'll jump on the 'go out west' bandwagon. We got married in September and honeymooned in February. We flew in to Jackson Hole, spent a day/night there...then 5 days in/around Yellowstone, back to Jackson Hole for another day/night.

Sled rental and room with 2 beds was right at $900 for 5 days after taxes. We spent another $400 on 2 guided tours through park (35-50 miles of riding per tour). Gorgeous views and tons of wildlife (actually got a little hairy once with a cougar...and another time with a herd of bison). Food selection where we were was a little sparse, but still pretty decent, although expensive, probably spent $100/day on food. I cashed in air miles so my flights were free, but when we were debating about just purchasing, I wanna say round trip direct tickets were in the $700 range. That gets you in the $3200 range if you just do Yellowstone, and there's money to be saved there.

SNOWMOBILING West Yellowstone National Park SNOWMOBILE Vacation Rentals!

Jackson Hole was a bit more expensive, but well worth the stay. We ended up just staying at 'The Lodge' and walking around town to check out the sites.

Oh...and my wife is the type that will tolerate primitive camping at Oregon Inlet for a couple days, just to get out to the beach, but is a relative ‘princess’. She absolutely loved this, still talks about it weekly...and now we’re planning a similar 10 day trip in Alaska.

The Mrs. and I went horse back riding at a guest ranch in British Columbia, just west of Banff. It was an incredible trip, but definitely pricey.
BC is BEAUTIFUL.

My first wife and I went to Alaska for our honeymoon. Don't remember the exact cost, but it was probably around your price range if the flights are cheap. Flew in to Anchorage, stayed at the Millenium Hotel (don't do that, it is an overpriced crap old hotel, Holiday Inn is better). Did a really cool ATV tour with Heiny's ATV Adventures, went up to Denali and stayed there a couple days, did another ATV and horseback tour there where you got to ride ATV's in a glacial drainage basin, and a few other cool things I can't remember. We are still married 9+ years later, so I guess it sufficed.

If you're looking for honeymoon ideas, I've always been a big fan of sex. Just pitching that out there.
Haha, yep! We went to carolina beach and stayed 4 days at surfside lodge. No nonsense (no breakfast or even a lounge, no room service other thatn they hung some fresh towels on our door each day), right on the beach with ocean view, and pretty cheap. With her discount it was under $400. With the exception of one night we went to a nice dinner in wilmington, we never went further than the pier(maybe a mile?). We rented 2 chairs and an umbrella to sit on the beach whenever we felt like getting out of the room and thats about as far went from the hotel. I thought that was the whole purpose of a honeymoon?

Today's day and time, if you don't already know the shoe fits and every nook and cranny it has, 1) congrats on being one of the very last virgins on the planet or 2) there's a very high chance you're going to get murdered one night and worn as a hat.

One of the things we prided ourselves on was waiting. So few people wait now and look at the divorce rate... We have always been the exception to the norm.

I was a hooligan. Knew my wife in high school, but as she put it, she 'didn't want to be a flavor of the month for a cocky, arrogant asshole'. So I either toned down, or she lowered her standards in college. I was her only, but took about 3 years...7 years after that, we got married.

Weve know each other since 4th grade and have always hung out. Weve been together almost 5 years now. Dated the last half of HS and she kept me out of a whole heck of a lot of trouble.

Not to derail-but I raise my glass to that!

I can honestly say I wish I’d waited and only knew my wife. You know, the whole “hind sight is 20/20” thing

I guess we're getting murdered. lol

We dated for about 4.5 years and have been engaged since June.
We don't really brag about it, but if it comes up, we will let people know we are waiting. I know everyone has different opinions, but we were both raised that way.

Anyways,
I've been looking into some fancy places around the Moab area. Gets pricey.
She is not a total princess but has voiced her opinion about a road trip in the camper or VW. It's a no go for a honeymoon. It'll happen for an anniversary trip later on.

We were sitting on the beach this summer and realized that we didn't want to be burned and sandy on the honeymoon. We could do that another time in NC, But we do like having food we can eat anytime and the all inclusive deal...

I'm gonna keep looking into y'alls ideas. Keep em coming.

having tried this a few times ive learned a couple things from cavewomen and bluebloods.

>let the bulk of the money create memories, not travel costs
>you and she will remember a food exp over a fancy sheet or fancy room
