House Bill 2

I'll just leave this here.

I honestly didn't know anything about transgender people before the recent events over the bill passed by NC. I guess I used to just think that they were sort of crazy, but I never really thought about it. Over the past couple of days I have done a good bit of reading and watched some videos on youtube. It seems that most transgender people knew their mind didn't match their body at an early age. For some of them it was as early as 3 years old. A lot of the boys who wanted to be a girl/woman were bullied through their school years because they were different by not displaying typical male characteristics. As a group, they have a very high suicide rate. Most suffer for many years before taking the plunge to start dressing like the sex they identify as. Hormone treatment typically follows soon after the change in dress, then surgery, which is expensive. It seems like the bathroom/locker room trouble related to HB2 is a problem during the transition phase. I'm not sure what the solution is, but I feel sorry for them now that I am more educated on the situation.

I felt the same way, I still dont fully understand it, but I am finding more compassion for them as I read more.

I likewise am compassionate and sympathetic to their struggles.
I hope they are as compassionate about mine. Maybe you never wanted your "willy" growing up but that doesnt mean my daughter needs to see it. Nor does it mean you need to see her naked.

I have little to no issue with where one relieves themselves, I have more issue with where elementary school age children change clothes for PE or in public pool areas.

Then we get into the whole discussion of body dysmorphic conditions.

I had a good friend growing up, who from the time she was 5 was convinced she was fat. I am not exaggerating, I remember play dates with hotwheels and barbies and her saying "I wish my belly wasn't so big"

The last time I saw her she was really excited that she had finally lost her "baby fat"..she was 17. She died 2 weeks later weighing less than 65lbs.

She obviously needed help that she never got. The Trans community says that a plastic surgeon should have given her botox and fat injections into her stomach to make her look how she felt. I argue that the root cause should be addressed.

But Im not a DR.

Best post ever ^^. If everyone educated themselves on a subject instead of watching FOX news, the world would be a better place. These people did not cause this problem. Th Governor and the rest of the religious zealots did. Look at most of the worlds problems - religion based. Sickens me.

I'm with ya, but I fixed it for ya.

As someone with very insightful viewpoints and an atypical knack for expressing them poignantly and concisely Id love to hear your thoughts on the subject...

Not that I agree with them, but some still have the belief (medical and otherwise) that this issue is still a psychological one, even at an early age. While their actions are not the same, it can be compared to sociopaths or multiple personality disorders. It is a disorder that can be present at birth.

I likewise am compassionate and sympathetic to their struggles.

These are my sentiments completely.

I think everyone should be required to wear Depends. Problem solved..

The problem existed long before our governor. The governor took steps to make sure there is no gray area when using the restroom.

And BTW, if you feel like a woman, you can have your gender legally changed and start sitting to pee with the rest of the women. Until then, use the restroom of your legal gender, not some ieaology of how you feel.

Hmmmmmmmm... not according to my mother..... she said if I didn't stop I'd go blind. Had nothing to do with cataracts, religion or politics.
She's a liar... 25+ Years now and 20/20 vision....

I'm not going to tell her that she can't go in the bathroom of her choice.

NCAA just pulled All their games, from NC! Personally, I don't give a damn, since I don't watch any Ball Games. Mess with Nascar, & I'll get pissed! It's messed up enough, by itself.:shaking:

I made a post tongue in cheek a while back, but if they're going to take a stand here, where are they going to draw the line? Being a governing body for sports, does that mean gender neutral teams are/should be on the horizon (don't worry, nascar already has a woman)?

Instead of this short-sighted debacle, the legislature should have made an amendment to the statute that any company or municipality that went above and beyond the statute (City of Charlotte, Target, etc.) would be civility liable for any assault that occured as a result of the policy. Whether the individual using the "restroom of their choice" is the victim or the assailant.

Laws should not be dictated by a sport ruling body. Elites that have body guards, private facilities, and preferential treatment trying to tell the masses to do as they say and not as they do.

I have stayed quiet for the most part silently watching this thread. Even being reserved watching the opinion sway with the mere mention of a news entity. It should not be a status quo situation, or any manner of compromising to the will of the outspoken.

Compromising your beliefs shows the youth that we have no foundation to stand on and that we as a general population will buckle under pressure. You have to stand for core values or you fall to the slippery slope downward spiral that ends in devisive chaos.

The core values each and every parent tries to instill in our children. The beliefs we have raised them with. Children look to their parents for wisdom and guidance as well as makimg their own decisions as they grow into adults themself. Right from wrong, pride in themself, honesty, loyalty, integrity, these are but a few core values. I do not believe in this afluenza crap. Responibility and accountablity. These are core values.

Hate isnt something you are born with, it is something you are taught.
