Which core values? Whose core values?
Had this discussion with a buddy of mine this weekend. His stance is 'Liberty is Liberty and government needs to butt out'. Great, does that mean my definition of liberty is the same as his, or a guy that wants to use the ladies room, or someone that believes murder is ok? Where is the line drawn? Whose line is it? I don't think it's as much that the government wanted to get involved in who can use which bathroom, as much as it is when you have more than one viewpoint, people will appeal to a higher power to get their way. In doing so, you're forcing governance (which I find ironic, we're getting more freedom, by putting more laws on the books). People are quick to bash .gov, but as long as there is a higher power to appeal to, people will...doesn't matter if it's government as we know it or some dude sitting on a mud mound with a wart hog skull on his head.
