All this talk about where to find a decent date got me thinking, where did you meet your husband/bf or wife/gf?

(edited to add, I found mine at college)
 
I really was not "set-up" through friends. I asked my friend to ask his friend to go wheeling with me (because I really did not want to go with the guy who wanted to go)
 
I threw her a life preserver!

She felt compelled to stay with me for the last 25 years!

My wife and I grew up together. Known her my whole life. We were born the same day. Our moms shared a room in the hospital when we were born, an have worked together for over 25 years. What a story I have.

I'd say that is quite a story.

You sure she's not really your sister? Born in the same room on the same day, sounds like your mom had twins :)

LOL.

You need to add "Other", as none of those options apply for me. I went rockclimbing with a friend and he brought along this awesome girl that he was interested in. He asked me what I thought about her and I said "if you don't date her, I will." They went out a few times, and parted ways, and a couple months later me and her started dating. Four years later we are engaged.
 
College. I was the scruffy grad student that sat in the back of the class. Over the course of a few dates I stepped through a couple of vehicles I had...a 1975 Bronco and a 1977 CJ7. When she wasn't scaried off by the primer black, Levi blue doors/hood, and white hard top of the CJ, I figured that things were going well.
 
through my sister. (I marked through friend on poll, seemed the closets.

She lived in Florida, Me up here. I went down to Fl. for Christmas (that's where my family is from). Anyway. My Parents rent a condo there each year and my Sis brought My future wife over to say hi. Later on, My sis asked if I wanted to go out for drinks with her and her friend. "Hell ya, she's hot!" Next thing I know, a couple months later I'm meeting her in Savannah, GA a few times, we both fly back and forth from Florida. We end up getting married in Savannah and after she moved up here. and it's all been downhill since. :D
 
At a party.
A mutual friend had her 21st and her fathers 50th birthday party on their farm. BBQ, bluegrass and barrels of :beer: everywhere. My friends and I took a camper, it was a serious party:D I hardly talked to her that night, early in the AM when all the younger people were finally calling it quits, her and some girls walked past our camper headed to their tent and I invited them to stay in the camper. "We're not like that" is the reply I got from her -and a ton of laughter from my friends. We went out the next wknd and got married 2yrs later.

I'm totally convinced I never would have crossed paths with her any other way.

Looking back, I still think being able to filter out the 'deal breakers' ahead of time helps a TON, as well as finding similar interests..

By the way, my wife now LOVES wheeling, and had never been before. But if their interests already include adrenaline-heavy and outdoor activities already, they might just like it when you introduce them to it.. :)
 
my gf is (or was, lol) friends with a girl i had been hooking up with off and on for a while. nothing serious was going to come of it, so i moved on to her friends.:flipoff2:
 
My Wife and myself met at The Pour House.. downtown Raleigh

but we were both DD's that night, that is the only reason I think it worked out :)

we have been together for almost 8 years
 
I owned a house two blocks from UNCG and Greensboro college (still own it too) my neighbors were in college I was 27. They were going to the strip club one night and asked if I wanted to go, I was going to pass until they told me they had a couple of girls going who'd never been. I decided to go and met my wife (one of the girls going) she had just turned 21. We got married 5 years later.Been married 6 years.
 
My wife was my neighbor in college. I got so drunk on my front porch one night that I couldn't manage to make my own crown n cokes. She walked by and I told her she needed to drag her ass across the street and make me a fu@k!n drink. When I went over the next day to apologize it turned out we got along really well.
 
match.com - Met my wife for the first time at the Dallas Airport :) Married 2 years in June.

I had been trying the internet sites on/off after not having any luck meeting chicks on the trail (go figure). Just not meeting people my type etc.. She was being very selective but over a larger area. She kept looking at my profile for about 2 weeks, finally I sent a note, say hi and pointing out that she lived there (in Plano, Tx) and I lived here... (I also mentioned I found her very attractive) It just went from there...
 
Waaaaayy back when yahoo personals was free. Simple scroll through the adds and if you like what you see or read, write em. It costs now I think.
We had wrote back and forth several times, phone calls and so on. My dad passed away back in July of 01 and I had been around family so much I was ready for a change. So I called he up and asked if she wanted to go out. She did. First meeting was the evening after we had buried my dad. I had never dated a Blondie, and had never found short hair attractive. Well, she was Blondie, and her hair was shorter than mine! I was about ready to leave when she opened the door. That is until she turned around to get her keys and I saw her butt LOL I decided to stay!
 
Church.
Her Dad was the pastor and it was the church my parents grew up going to in Va.
I talked her into moving to Myrtle Beach and asked her to marry me after about a year.
We now have a 5 year old and one due in Sept...

That is the good old fashioned way to do things!

I met my wife online but not at a dating site. We talked off and on around two years and finally met in the summer of 2004. We were married in September of last year.

She puts up with all of my hobbies and I with hers, I think she is a keeper.
