Just wondering how far out of your way you go for cheaper Gas... and how much cheaper?

go an extra 5 miles out of your way to get gas that's 3 cents cheaper? 5 cents cheaper? 10 cents?

how far and how much?

None at home. I get it at the same couple of places all the time regardless. I figure a couple of dollars a week isn't much to me and I like supporting the corner store. If I'm on the road I'm keeping an eye out on the prices but convenience, brand and other business influence my stops. Example, Hess has what I want in an energy drink and honey bun where as BP dosen't. I'll stop where there's a Hardee's instead of Burger King, that kinda thing.

if you do the math it usually is not worth it to travel the distance unless more then $.10 cheaper..

exactly.

I see and hear people say, hell, it's 5 cent cheaper 5 miles up the road! even though they are going the other direction.

I have a 20 gallon tank, say gas next to me is $3.20 , but 5 miles away is $3.15. I save a whopping Dollar on a tank of gas that costs me $64.. Hell $3.10 saves me $2..wo hoo :shaking:

just wondered who/if anyone went out of their way THAT much.

.....I just go as far as my neighbors driveway & siphon the gas from his truck.

Inconvienent, but economical.:shaking::lol:

Seriously, I hit the same station near the house regardless of price......on the road, I try to hit similar brand establishments, as long as they have my slim jim beef jerky.

Anyone having problems w/ gas theft yet?

I have two F-250's in the driveway at any one time & I was wondering about that (live in the city limits).

Man those things will kill you eventually I'm sure

This is the point at which the price can begin to make a different, go to fill up those twin tanks, what, 50 gallons, 10 cents each will buy you several of those slim jims, and the Pepcid to follow it

But for me, driving my 13 gal Mazda, hell no, I stop where it's convenient or as CYJ said, the local guy in my town, and only when the tank is empty and time for a complete fill.

ya, I stop at the same station most of the time. depending on if I'm about to walk or not. there's a Hess station across the street from the Country store station I stop at that is generally a couple cents cheaper, but that particular Hess is run by complete idiots that irritate me. Not to mention the Country store Clerk likes to talk Jeeps when I come in, and he doesn't make me prepay even though they ask you to. that's worth the extra pennies.

btw, for those in the area, this is the CrossRoads gas station on Surrett Road just south of Bus 85 across from teh Thomas built Bus Factory. (south Side of High Point)

....but they're sooo good, of course they're bad for me. I didn't hit 300 lbs eating tofu, what the hell is tofu anyway?:bounce2:

I'm seriously considering selling one of the 250's & buying a small p'up to run down to the farm & to work. It'll be hard to get used to a cramped cab after the full-size trucks.

I would be lucky to cross a busy road to save 7 cents on gas, i just pull in where it is easiest.......... not worth crossing busy traffic or pulling u-turns or any of that mess

another aspect that makes me laugh is people waiting in line idling away for gas at a station that is 5 cent cheaper than the one across the street. how much did it cost you to sit there and wait?

I work it out so by the time im out of gas, i find myself in SC.... I do everything i need to in NC then to finish out the day, or the tasks of the week, i end up in SC since gas is so much cheaper down there, anywhere from .10-.20 per gallon... I live 15min from the boarder so its not a big deal to wind up down that way.

Not this time.

We put locking gas caps on all our vechiles we had at the time. The minivan and the big van both got got one time before. My Honda was the only one that didn't. The minivan's gas gauge didn't work and Chip ran out of gas, he thought he had enough in it because he was keeping track of milage. I know it ain't completely fool proof but, we figured someone would have to work a little harder and longer to get the gas out this time!

I usually end up getting gas on the way to work, in Hildebran, it's cheaper down that way.
