Hurricane Florence, assistance thread

I havnt made it east yet. Have buddies that work fire down In Leland and Wilmington that have been in touch with their family and it is flooded like crazy, no sense in anyone going back at the moment. Was going to try and get down there to help with cleanup today but saw video and pictures of large rollbacks and Humvees swamped and abandoned

2nd test about an hour ago at the hospital. 10-ish seconds this time.

Nurse said generators didn't work at all when they 1st lost power. So much for monthly testing?

Yes, it is. Feel free to share your story via PM. Confidentially, of course.

Or was the phone call the previous generator guy looking for a new job?

I think it was 1994, Hurricane Gordon, coming. I worked for Rental Tools. [Sold out about 2000] Rental Tools had a Large Quantity of Generators, & Specialized Equipment, that No competitors carried. I delivered a "Trailerized" Generator, to the Wilmington Hospital, Before the Storm. Don't think they used it, but it was there! It was a V-12 or V16 Cat. Don't remember which one now.

Could I get someone to come pick up sticks, mow my lawn and wash the siding on the house? No real storm damage, but I just don't want to do it .
Cleaned my yard today. Between the sticks and pine cones it sounded like I was mowing a gravel parking lot. Got her done just as it was about to rain again. Earthworms and frogs were everywhere.

So when I came to work yesterday Lynches River was really high. When I went home it was a good foot higher. This morning it was even higher. Right at the level of the road. I might have to go a different way how tonight. They also have to release water at the Nuke plant here in Hartsville and had to evacuate some more areas in Darlington County.

Here's another funny from the hospital...this morning, I was out in main lobby....two engineer types, one had Cat Power Systems shirt on...was on phone with his boss. Seems he just flew in from someplace....and when he arrived on site, current contractor wanted them to put on their company tshirts....guess they didn't want hospital to know they were bringing in outside help.... these two weren't having anything to do with that.
