Just to revisit the facts, the driveshaft that was a little too short actually had no vibes. Then it was lengthened and the vibes returned?
Correct. Out of the 5 or shafts I've either ordered or accumulated, there was one Oliver's shaft that was originally intended for the front. In the rear it was 2" too short for permanant use (only about 1.5" spline engagement). I dropped it off at local Spicer shop to be retubed. When I got it back, it was welded crooked as was seen in the video. They re-retubed it with vibes present again. I got tired of dealing with them, ordered one from Tom Woods. It does the same thing as the others.Just to revisit the facts, the driveshaft that was a little too short actually had no vibes. Then it was lengthened and the vibes returned?

Through all of this, just the too short Oliver's fixed it.
That is what I am looking into next. Unfortunately I am driving an international all around Charlotte today so I won't have a lot of time to dedicate to itSo what’s the difference in wall thickness of the shafts that you’ve tried?
There’s a get together?Spoke with Tom Woods at length earlier. They're also in agreement it's a shaft issue. They've offered to send another new shaft, this one 2.5" diameter, as a test shaft so to speak.
It'll get built tomorrow and shipped out same day
Stay tuned guys and gals. I kinda wanna drive this thing to the get together next month
Dammit Jody! You weren't supposed to tell HIM!There’s a get together?
WhoopsThere’s a get together?
I'm thinking the stiffer 2.5" will do the trick.
"Hung like a can of dog food"That's what she said.
Both topics are sources of great frustrationYou still dropping quarters in the vibrating bed or did the new shaft make it calmer than your sex life?
Have you sold it yet?
Not yet.Have you sold it yet?
Nothing really important to add here except I appreciate the heck out of someone taking care of a jeep with those miles on the odometer. I’ve always had a thought that I would own a ZJ if I didn’t have my WJ. It always made me a little sad to see endless rows of ZJs at the pick n pull yards. Usually beat to hell and neglected. Finally had a day at work that wasn't insane and took it for a spin with the new Tom Woods 2.5" diameter rear shaft...fixed it!
At around 58-60 there's a minute amount of vibration, but you'd be picky to detect it. All the way to 70 it's super smooth.

But I'm not the judge and jury, my wife is. She drove it home and reported back:

Thank God it's finally driveable. I really can't say enough good things about Tom Woods in this scenario. They blindly sent me a second shaft when the original one was fine (by the build sheet). I'll take up a refund with my local shop this week.
Now I can wash it off and get ready to install her 4.6 in a month or so
