Competition is getting tough! This was on Fox News home page: Champion drift driver (finished 10th at Koh '16) in a new Ford Bronco 600hp IFS car out to win king of the hammers:

New Ford Bronco built to be King of the Hammers

I've been watching him drift this thing all over Sema. Going to be a siiiick car out there.

its cool they wrapped it in what looks like early bronco skin. but thats about as far as my interest in this goes.

I don't understand these people with plenty of budget to run the big show but sand bag to run 4500. And don't get me started on brand damn new 'legends' cars.

Because they can't hang with the big guys. Jessi is a perfect example. She can't win the big one so she races in someone else's rig so she can win the other less popular race with rigs that are not built as well usually against people who scraped every last dollar together so they can race.

I didn't see a Bronco. Must have been a bad link.

Everything I heard was this was going in the big race. Where are people saying 4500? Were early Broncos ifs? Stock and mod have to maintain same axle style.

Exactly. Based on the pictures shown, there is nothing remotely stock about that EB or "new" bronco. That is a Jimmys tube chassis with bronco skins.

You know what's better than winning the Special Olympics? ...

Ill try to find a link. There was a big mess about IFS being legal in 4500 and basically Dave Cole said there was nothing in the rule book to prevent it for that class. Legends specifically says no TTB or IFS of any kind.

GITTIN INTRODUCES #BROCKY, A PURPOSE-BUILT CLASSIC FORD BRONCO ULTRA 4 RACE TRUCK TO COMPETE AT THE NITTO KING OF THE HAMMERS

"Vaughn will race in the pro 4500: Rubicon Express Modified Class of the Ultra 4 Racing series"

Hmm.... Well..

Good luck to him, he's an incredibly talented driver. The new car looks fast for Unlimited, other worldly in 4500.

But he shouldn't get too comfortable, I'm training the wife in our 4550 mall crawler ;-). Funny to think the two rigs would be in the same class, but taking full advantage of the rules is what separates the best from the rest.

Does refurbing an old trail rig count?
Count as what?

Putting good shocks and some extra tube for safety on a reliable trail rig is what I had in mind when they introduced Legends class. Or running an old rock crawler with bigger shocks sounds fun.
Dropping $125k on brand new stuff and building it within the legends rules is a bit ridiculous.
$125k is plenty to podium the big show if you have basic fab skills and a will to practice and improve your driving.

This.

I'd love to race but there is no way I can afford that kind of money for a rig. That's why ecors was so appealing to me with it gone the chances of me racing now is slim to none
