In need of spacers (advice)

I've got a set of corner guards now I need to install, and I want to install them UNDER my Exogate tire mount. The exogate comes with a 1" spacer for the hinge side on the body to extend it the same amount as the frame on the tailgate.
So to delete the exogate spacer and still be the same thickness as the tailgate, I need a 7/8" (technically a 13/16") poly or aluminum or steel spacer to go under the hinge now after mounting the corners.
Any advice on what to use? Where to get it?

(How do you like the way I pulled that dent out @Jason W. @Don M @Joe J. ? ) :D

I would find a piece of aluminum and use that, less rust issues and the threads wouldn't be in the aluminum. Would it be easier to shim the tailgate section with a few fender washers, add 3/16 to that side?

I liked the dent, you can't buy character!

I think @tknopp just picked up a whole pile of what you need. ;) Seems like it would be easy enough to knock out on a mill if one had the dims needed. I might have a piece of aluminum or delrin/hdpe big enough to get it.

You could go with a 1/2" piece and a 5/16" piece, or just get someone to mill down a piece of 7/8" bar stock. Is the spacing actually critical enough that 1/16" would matter?

MUCH easier, but I'd prefer LESS cantilever over MORE. Actually the EASIEST route would just be to cut the corner to fit AROUND the mounts, but the corner would be stronger left in tact and using the compression of the latch bolts.

That would be AWESOME (min) 5-1/2" x 2-5/8" x 13/16".....or 7/8"

:D

I wouldn't think so. But hey, if by chance I can get closer, mind as well mention the exact thickness just in case

I'll check on material tonight.

You need two, correct?

No dice on scrap here. I'll make a couple calls tomorrow and see if I can find so. Even 1x3 uhmw or delrin pretty cheap. Shouldn't take long to size it up from there.

Looks like somebody beat me to it! Just as well, looked like I was going to have to buy 1'x1'x1" sheet of black UHMW to do it. Couldn't find a bit of scrap around to make it happen.

Well, I just saw this and looks like you already have it taken care of. I could hook you up no problem, and I'm right down the road from you. Let me know the size and the bolt hole locations and I can fix you up. I could do aluminum.

Joe just hooked me up with some custom cut aluminum pieces and brought them TO me!!

Thanks Joe! You are the man! I owe this guy a bottle of good stuff for sure!

No problem dude, that's one of the perks of being in the club lol. Just figured since I talked ya into getting those corner guards out of my way in the garage the least I could do is help you get them on your Jeep.

Hope they are thick enough for you, I had a guy saw them out for me and he flubbed up the first one, so I had to find another piece and it was a few thousandths thinner. So I made them the same on the mill.
