Irma

I was in College here in Hartsville when Hugo hit. That storm really messed up this state. My Sister and her family are all in Vero Beach FL with my Mom and Dad. We've all been through so many hurricanes it's not even funny. Any of you remember David? This one is a big deal though because of it's shear size. I think they plan on ridding it out.

We're fine, as far as I know. I only know of one station in Craven County that's out of gas. I hear they've been diverting shipments down to Florida to help people that are evacuating.

Family from Clearwater, Florida made it in last night. With all the evacuation, said it took them 13 hours to go 225 miles on Wednesday. And about another 9-10 hours yesterday to go the last 400 miles. Usually that's a 9.5-10 hour trip in total.

Anyone know if the eastern parts of NC have plenty of gas?

Every gas station I've seen is operating normally.

Only real issue I saw was Walmart in Goldsboro had like zero bottles of water and no bread. But go to HT in Greenville and they have plenty of each.

We were supposed to stay at ocean lakes in myrtle beach from the 4th to the 15th. We left at 1am Friday morning. I only have one weekend of vacation left and didn't want to waste it because of irma.

We're heading back the 18th to the 29th.

Most of Huntersville was out of gas yesterday, but started getting deliveries in the late afternoon. Mostly seems like business as usual today.

I'm disappointed. Missed the opportunity to use "IRMAhgerd".

I looked for it, but everybody spelled it Erma, and I couldn't find a clean version of ermagerd.

My brother and his wife are sticking it out in Sarasota. With their gov jobs they'll need to be there right after the storm. He wasn't worried about it.

How many of you lived in Western North Carolina during Hugo. That was a rough storm and always makes me cautious when there is a big hurricane anywhere near the East Coast.

We were without power for 4 weeks it took three days of sawing just to get out of the driveway

Just about my entire extended family and my wife's family are hunkered down in central Florida. They're inland between Tampa and Orlando. They've been boarding up and my wife has been glued to the weather reports.

Her Brother lives in Naples but grabbed his family and hauled ass north to Miramar. Hopefully the storm stays east of him there. But if the predictions are right, his house in Naples could be sitting in 9+ foot of water after tomorrow.

I had to do some Hauling yesterday, in the Dump truck, right near the Catawba River & Hwy 49. I knew my fuel was getting low, but also was getting cut off around 2:00. Figured I'd get some SC fuel at the QT, on the way in. Right! I circled the QT, & couldn't even get in line. Heck with this, drive on! The next station that was easy to get to was a Murphy. Uh, yea, Lined up!
Well, i'm headed to dump & park for the day. Nope, came the call! Dump & make 1 more pick up, Back in SC [Hwy49]. Crap! On the way Back, I made 1 more try, at a Mom& pop store out on Hwy 273. They Had diesel, only 10 cent higher, but Beats running out! Found it Weird, the had signs up, saying the Only had Regular & Diesel. Thought all stations always run out of regular, first?
Today I thought I'd run to Lowe's for some fertilizer & a can of "Mechanic-in-a-bottle". They had other mixed fuel, but don't carry the M in a B. Go to Walmart next door, they had 3 cans of mixed fuel left. Nearly everything else they had was Gone, including they MB. That's were I had been buying it. Looks like I won't need any after all [I hope]!
