The fuel I speak of is Still sketchy in the Charlotte area. Average 2.65 reg., If they have it. Some station only have Premium. Now that Florida is running out of gas, & Irma's direction still unknown, I don't see NC getting any better on fuel, for several weeks.

I am glad I live where I do. It will rain and if a tree falls I'll cut it down. I'll still go to work and I'll still try to wrench on something in the evening although the rain (and lack of sheltered work space) may inhibit progress. If that's the case I'll be watching TV. Have generator and plenty of skillz to feed my family without electricity if it gets to that point.
I feel for the folks in Florida though its going to get hairy.
Filled up my excursion tonight just because... 2.59 for Diesel. I might even go fill the yj tomorrow just because people are dumb.
Panic creates all these problems. I've got a good bit of venison still frozen and the normal groceries, a 24 case of water I always keep, probably 40-50 lbs of dog food because I always buy that in bulk.
Ill fill up a propane tank tomorrow and probably relax as its my day off.
I'm more concerned about where Ill keep my toys to protect them from trees since I (an insurance agent) am too cheap for full coverage. Lol
At least around here, the fuel thing isn't an issue. A short drive gets us to our backup fuel options if SHTF and local pumps were dry. Price is going to be what its going to be.
I leave for a show on Friday for a week (too bad its the year its in Vegas and not Orlando ). Since I leave before we really have an idea of whats going to happen to the Carolinas, the truck will get topped off before I pull into RDU and I'll make sure the ol lady has a fresh tank of propane for the grill and a few cases of water in case the power does go out. Her sister and bro in law live in Edenton and we have some more friends in the Beaufort area that may come this way if it really ends up hammering the NC coast.
Starting at Post 48, Wyatt did a good writeup about Harvey's effect on Houston: Texas flooding
Can't be too bad, i was at the store last night and they had plenty of milk and bread...Everyone knows the official food of NC disaster is the milk sammich!
Both jeeps are topped off, just went to sams saturday and got our typical months worth of food, another month and a half of dry food in preps, plenty of water, plenty of ammo, still need some 2 stroke mix. Hopefully this passes without much damage, I got a wedding th 16th and then headed to kure. (in best black lady voice) hurricane??? AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FUR DATTTT!!!!
How many of you lived in Western North Carolina during Hugo. That was a rough storm and always makes me cautious when there is a big hurricane anywhere near the East Coast.
We were without power for 4 weeks it took three days of sawing just to get out of the driveway
During Hugo, I was in second grade living in Siler City. I can remember all the damage it caused in town including demolishing the dugouts on the city ball fields. Seems like I remember some store in Raliegh that was leveled by it. When Fran came through in 1996 I was a freshman in high school and along with all the tree damage I remember being without power for over a week. I really hope that this one doesn't cause anything like that.
I just ran to Sam's Club at lunch to pick up a couple cases of water....huge mistake! That place was a madhouse & completely sold out of regular & flavored water (except the $15 case of smart water).
I still managed to stock up on crap we didn't need
Dammit, timing always sucks. I'm on call next week for ERO (Emergency Response Organization) at the neutron factory. That means by law I have to stay fit for duty. No beer-drinking for me during the hurricane.
