Jeep fuel tank dangerous?

2.5 million vehicles on the road covering literally billions of miles of driving. Lets say 100 have caught fire. That's only .004% of them. Seem like decent odds to me.

I've never liked the gas tank location of the TJ's/Cherokees/Grand Cherokees. It's at the very rear - no cushion from the rear bumper/frame. It also hangs low.. most sedans/sports cars could easily get under the tank and rupture it during a rear end collision.

That is no difference than the fuel tank on the 2 door tahoes and yukons. The fuel tanks on them are right in the middle of the back almost right up against the bumper but they do have like a skid plate on them.

A guy who was fired from Chrysler is the whistle blower. No motivation for him to slander the company....

the report said only 60 of the 3 million sold have had a fire issue..

but it did not say if the fuel line broke along frame rails, or fuel rail at engine broke and fuel went onto hot engine, etc..

i love how they are getting there info from a guy that got fired from chrysler. The media will do anything for a story to bash american auto manufactures. I'm sure if this was a toyota prius that this lady was killed in you would not have heard a word about it.
