Jeep.........now made in China

I hope not but it seems wrong for a co. that was bailed out by Ozzama and now owned by Fiat...........this post comes from a guy w a pic of his Japanese truck in my sig.o_O

This came up pre-election, too. It's a bit of an embellishment on the truth. Chrysler has had a production facility in China for a while now, it's just been mothballed for several years due to low demand. The word was that they had no intentions of shipping jobs overseas, but reopening the line over there in order to meet foreign demand. Are they going to move production to China eventually? Don't know. It's up to them. However, that is not their intention now.

Question: How would a Chinese-built Jeep be any worse than the Indian ones already in production?

Catfish is right. No yobs in 'Merica lost and this is a great move for Jeep, (Chryslers #1 profit maker) too.

Maybe Jeremy Clarkson and the Top Gear boys will start testing them against the Range Rovers now that they'll being showing up more overseas.

By the "jobs saved or created" standard, I'm pretty sure that paying Chinese laborers to build Jeeps == not paying Americans to build that same Jeep and ship it to China... so, jobs lost.

It's their standard... I'm just applying it consistently.

I thought they were always built in China!:flipoff2:
