Did you change the backing plate on the axle with your disk conversion or did you add a spacer to put pressure on the seal? The backing plate on the axle is different for disk and drum.....so the seal will not stay together/sealed with disks if you use the drum ones.

I picked up the right plate when I picked my gears from ECGS. I replaced the axle bearings, seals and the plate. The bolt plate needed is off a four wheel disk Rubicon. The only other thing I had to do to bolt the ZJ brakes on was to open up the backing plate hole so the seal would fit through it.

Well I finally got around to getting a SYE so I could get rid of the trans drop and the driveline vibrations. I was kind of surprised when I started looking at the transfer case it appears the PO changed it out with an older one. Going by the tag it looks like the case was manufactured on 7/27/94.

The strange thing is he went through hassle of changing the tale shaft so he could keep the Harmonic Balancer which has already been removed in this pitcher.

One other reason I decided to finally do the SYE was because I needed to replace the chain in the case. AS you see in the pic there was a lot of slop in my old chain:

Oil pump and speedo gear installed

Tail housing and yoke installed so I could get a measurement for the driveshaft.

Now that I had a measurement for driveshaft I took a break from install to run my driveshaft over to Oliver’s so it could be shorten. Hopefully I'll get it back tomorrow and I can finish this up.

Was doing some research for a front bumper and came across a thread where a guy fabricated is own Highrock style bumper. Here is the pic of what I was using a plate form to do mine.

I didn't like how far he had his sticking out in the front so I made my top plate 5 1/2" and bottom 5". This should allow me to bolt a winch plat on and have it be flush with the front of the bumper.

This project ould have been a lot easier with a metal break and plasma, but I made do with a jigsaw and side grinder.

Made a lot of progress for one day’s work just have to make one piece for the passenger side then make the back brackets and do a little grinding and it will be ready for powder coat.
