KOH coverage

oh and if you want to start some crap go ask on Pirate why the top teams that won were not DQ'd after they short coursed :)

yes we watched them short course in person..

Man I swear I had the best spot in the whole race while I was volunteering for crowd control!! You guys prob saw me wearing my safety vest in the live coverage at chocolate thunder cause I almost got ran over a few times when they started taking different routes lol!! It was awesome!

Bruiser where were they short coursing??

very first part of the course.. we saw 6 take the every man race course and not go up over the large first hill.. robby gordon was the only one to turn around and go up and over the others kept going and never came back..

IM amazed there has been no complaints about closing down the other lines on chocolate thunder. That change pretty much sealed who would be in the top ten.

I get blm said they were to close to fans as the left line obviously wasn't considered when they laid out the baracades. how hard would it have been to move the line back 20 feet.

Yeah, but it wasn't 20 feet, the rule was 150 feet... so would've taken some work. Crowds at any race are tough to manage, crowds at that race, with all the people crawling around on the rocks, is next to impossible. I bet Ben can tell us!

As for the DQ thing... it sounded like, at the time, that none of that was expressly forbidden. <shrug> Ultimately, it's Dave's race.

I will say, again, that it was great fun to watch the live coverage, I was getting texts and tweets and google chats from all over, "did you see THAT?"

FWIW, I fully agree with Dave's decision here on CT...I cant get a full view on the other stuff.

There was an alternate line and they went with it...then outside officials said no.
Thems the breaks.
I cant find anyone with a valid complaint.

Oh and congrats to Erik....next time we see you in the waffle house at 2AM wearing a crown it will be expected!

Every King needs a crown.

Haha YES le me tell you guys I told Michael if I did go back I probably would not volunteer again! I had one o the BEST spots on chocolate, shoot you can see me in most of the pics and videos on pirate4x4 in my orange vest lol BUT having to get yelled at to tell the crowd every 5 minutes to get back and to stop tearing down the string and wooden stakes Sucked!!! Those people could care less what I had to say and would rather try to cuss me out while asking them nicely to move back or BLM was going to shut the race down! Put it this way at the end of the day I got the best seat at chocolate thunder and almost got ran over a few times but man I was exhausted by the crowd and wanting tO just go off lol!!

Any possibility at being able to view the race by some sort of later broadcast. Or do I need to wait for the edited production vid about this years race? I really have never bought any vids on wheeling.

I'd say youtube would be a good start. Watch all the good stuff.

They are actually re-airing it today... According to the KOH FB page...

Whether you are missing the lakebed or missed the live show, Hammerking Productions will rebroadcast the 2012 King of the Hammers this Friday.
Tune In
WHERE: Ultra4Racing.com/live

DATE: Friday, February 17th

TIME: 8 AM

Yeah they got the heli ride off the lake bed.
Someone said Matt credited a Hans with saving his life....~40mph to dead zero impact...
Just saw this on Larry McRae's blog about the race...

^^ from what I understand those guys took a Heli ride out, both OK but in rough shape.

We had an unreal weekend at KoH! Front row seat at Chocolate Thunder, front row at Back Door, and just so happened to be hanging out at the Start/Finish line to see team Miller come barreling through.

Here are a few shots from the weekend-

The rental car! The Ford Edge bombed through the desert all day without any issues. We actually drove around some other rigs and chase trucks that had burried down (after seeing what we could do to help). I spent over an hour cleaning it before returning it.
